Your future team

Volvo Group Trucks Technology – Powertrain Engineering is managed in Hagerstown, MD and is used in many of the transport solutions offered. Our contribution is vital to ensure that high quality products meet our customers’ expectations. We are responsible for mechanical simulations in powertrain development for the US. We manage simulations of many different parts and systems. This means anything from a simple fatigue evaluation of a cylinder head to a forced response analysis of a complete powertrain. We are also responsible for fatigue analysis and experimental stress analysis using strain gauging.

Our group, Materials & Structures, currently consists of five Engineers; 1 Simulation Engineer, 1 Simulation & Vibration Engineer, 1 Metallurgist, 1 Polymer scientist and 1 Fluid Engineer. The overall mission for our Simulation Engineer is to support product development with high quality simulations and data analysis which drive design from a durability and feature perspective. We aid in the development and execution of rig tests to support both our product quality and our simulations, along with ultrasonic bolt mic measurements to confirm clamp load and elongation. Our Vibration Engineer evaluates our new products from a vibration perspective and works in close co-operation with our Simulation Engineer to improve final design.

We are happy to say that we´re looking for a new team member in mechanical simulations with focus on FEA and mechanical testing to strengthen our ability to meet the future needs. In our development of products, we want to create engineering excellence through simulation and you´ll be a key player in our development team.
