The Registered Dietitian / Nutritionist serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT). This includes nutrition assessments, developing patient-centered nutrition interventions, and providing nutrition education, as needed, within HMH inpatient or outpatient settings

**Hours: 8:30am-5pm but they can change so need to be flexible. No nights required

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Registered Dietitian/ Nutritionist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Obtain, analyze, and interpret appropriate data to assess patients nutrient needs, utilizing evidence-based guidelines, including, nut not limited to performing Nutrition Focused Physical Exams (NFPE) on appropriate patients.

  • Utilize the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) to develop, implement, and monitor evidence-based nutrition interventions/care plans.

  • Complete comprehensive assessments with appropriate documentation in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR), according to facility policy and in compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Provide nutrition education/counseling to patients and families as appropriate.

  • Communicate recommendations/interventions or changes to the patients plan of care with other members of the interdisciplinary team.

  • Provide community and outpatient nutrition services as assigned.

  • Participate in performance improvement projects and facility specific initiatives related to patient care.

  • Complete additional duties and/or projects as assigned.

  • Maintain credentialing from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).

  • Maintain competencies and professional development related to nutrition trends, research, policy, certification and standards of practice.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations, as well as Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) policies and procedures (e.g., HIPPA/Privacy Act, quality assurance, safety, operations, personnel).

  • Provide quality patient focused service, including practice of AIDET, PRIDE, and RESPECT to maintain and improve department and facility patient satisfaction scores.

  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Effective January 1, 2024, RD Registered or newly RD eligible must have Master's degree.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Experience with facility specific EMR system.

  • Experience with Foodservice System applications.

  • Acute care, clinical, or related experience.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Credentialed Professional RD/RDN through CDR within 6 months of hire.
