This role is responsible for developing, implementing and supporting safety programs and processes to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all employees. This role involves assessing existing safety measures, identifying potential hazards, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations and standards.

Role & Responsibility

Safety Program and Collaboration

  • Design, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs tailored to the ‘way of working’ (day to day of how work tasks are done) manufacturing environment.

  • Work closely with production teams, maintenance staff, and leaders to identify and implement safety improvements. Collaborate to ensure accurate and consistent application of related programs, tools, and solutions.

  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses specific to manufacturing processes and equipment.

  • Develop and enforce safety standards and procedures in compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agencies.

  • Participate in safety committees and work groups to promote a culture of safety and address specific safety concerns in the manufacturing process.

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to emphasize the importance of safety.

Corrective Action and Audits

  • Support investigations into workplace accidents, injuries, and near misses within the manufacturing setting to identify root causes.

  • Collaborate with management and cross functional teams to implement corrective action and monitor their effectiveness and consistent utilization. Ensure documentation is maintained.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of manufacturing facilities, equipment, machinery, and practices.

  • Identify potential risk factors for musculoskeletal disorders and other ergonomic issues. Implement modifications in alignment with production processes and priorities.

  • Conduct & support audits of manufacturing processes and systems to ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.

  • Document findings and develop action plans to address any non-compliance issues or areas for improvement.

  • Support environmental audits and reporting to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.

  • Evaluate the environmental impact of manufacturing activities and develop strategies to mitigate negative effects.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Collect, analyze, and report on safety data to identify trends to further support program and process enhancements.

  • Prepare and present safety-related reports, statistics, and recommendations to leadership.

  • Utilize data-driven approaches to proactively develop, implement and maintain safety strategies to desired results.

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or a related field.

  • Professional certification in safety (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST)) is preferred.

  • Proven experience in safety engineering within a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and machinery safety regulations and standards.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Effective communication, training, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.
