Western Colorado University Director Of Bands And Brass in Gunnison, Colorado

POSITION:

Western Colorado University invites applications for a non-tenure-track full-time faculty position in Music in the area of Bands and Brass. Teaching responsibilities include courses in instrumental music and brass lessons. Other courses could be included in the teaching load based on department needs and instructor qualifications. The successful candidate will assume the lead role in furthering an in-progress Athletic Band initiative. Teaching load is 30 credits per academic year, with the possibility for reassign time to assist with program recruitment and development.

The Music Department at Western Colorado University has three emphases within the major: Music Education, Music Industry, and Comprehensive Music. QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates should possess a MM (DMA or PhD, incl. ABD, in relevant field preferred). Candidates who possess a Masters should have considerable experience in Band direction and Brass pedagogy. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education, excellence in teaching, and willingness to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population. Candidates must also be able to use technology in instructional delivery, including ability to teach online and hybrid courses. Collegiality and professional flexibility are characteristic of the department and would be sought in the successful candidate.

SALARY/BENEFITS:

Salary range is $50,000-$53,000. Western offers an excellent benefits package including shared premiums for a comprehensive health insurance plan, dental insurance, retirement plan, life insurance, and other insurance options. After one year of employment, Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in undergraduate programs for up to four years.
