Naval Supply Systems Command TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT in Gulfport, Mississippi

Summary You will serve as a TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT in the Personal Property (PPO), Household Goods (HHG) Program of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER JACKSONVILLE. Responsibilities You will consult with customers to provide assistance with and information on entitlements and the shipping and storage of personal property. You will use various sources to determine the correct shipping costs and methods and arrange shipping details such as pickups and deliveries, services, and shipping guidelines. You will accurately maintain shipping and storage records. You will review systems, files, and databases for shipping and cost discrepancies, and take steps to resolve them. You will use data and automated systems to compile and prepare reports as necessary. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: A knowledge of transportation support policies and procedures that are used to assist in making arrangements for the movement and storage of personal property, household goods, or privately owned vehicles through domestic and foreign shipments. Examples of specialized experience may include: 1) Computing shipment costs and identifying inaccurate charges, investigating overages, shortages, damages, and discrepancies; 2) Facilitating shipments by arranging rates, services, distribution, storage, packaging, pickup, renewals, and deliveries; 3) Using automated systems and databases to track shipments, ensure accuracy, and discover and reconcile errors; 4) Determining and providing counseling to customers on entitlements of shipping and/or storage of personal property; 5) Conducting in-person and virtual inspections to verify compliance with applicable regulations.
