Leidos Marine Technician in Gulfport, Mississippi

Description

The Maritime Systems Division (MSD) of Leidos is currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented marine technologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting a wide range of tests on USVs to ensure they meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards. This role involves collaborating with design and engineering teams, supporting vessel needs, and providing recommendations for improvements.

Primary Responsibilities

  • System integration:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and components on a variety of marine vessels

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues using appropriate testing tools and equipment

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems to ensure optimal performance

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to execute electrical installations and repairs accurately

  • Adhere to safety protocols and standards to ensure a safe working environment

  • Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure that all tests comply with relevant regulatory standards and safety guidelines.

  • Identify and address any safety hazards or compliance issues during testing.

  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies and classification societies to ensure compliance.

  • Continuous Improvement:

  • Work closely with design and engineering teams to provide feedback and recommendations for product improvements.

  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to the development of new testing methodologies.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to USV testing.

Qualifications

  • Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in electrical engineering, marine technology, or a related field is preferred

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in marine technician support, or a related field

  • Expectations:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in using testing equipment and data analysis software

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory standards and safety guidelines

  • Willingness to travel on average 25% of the time

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret-level security clearance, US Citizenship is required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor settings and onboard vessels

  • Ability to lift and carry testing equipment and instruments

  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights

Pay Range:

Pay Range $39,650.00 - $71,675.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
