MISSION / SUMMARY:
The Safety Coordinator is a key member of the Groveport Packaging Facility’s team and is responsible for supporting the HS&E function at the facility and implementing operational plans to drive both short and long-term objectives. The position is responsible for supporting the HS&E aspects of the GPI HS&E Management System, HSE compliance and related matters. This role reports directly to the HS&E Manager and engages other operations and functions as required.
Responsibilities include working in conjunction with the HS&E Manager to support regulatory compliance, program implementation and sustainment, monitor working conditions, identify and mitigate workplace risks, lead safety initiatives, and drive continuous improvement. The individual works cross functionally and develops relationships to achieve compliance, positive employee relations, drives employee engagement, influences to create a positive HSE culture and drives results that achieve positive business performance.
Key Responsibilities and Job Functions : Primary job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Supports the HSE Management System maturity efforts and self-assessment
Supports HSE compliance efforts
Acts as an advisor to the location’s HSE Steering Committee (Led by Plant Operation’s leader)
Supports initiatives to drive an incident/accident-free workplace initiative through education, training, and other initiatives to create a culture of individual employee ownership for HSE within the workforce.
Supports floor supervision with incident investigations to determine root cause and appropriate corrective actions.
Supports Workers Compensation Claims process as necessary.
Supports the development of and executes HSE trainings
Supports HSE inspection and audit process, tracks and assures inspections and audits are completed.
Maintains HSE floor communications
Supports the location’s HSE risk assessment maturity
Participates in and helps lead HSE initiatives, (i.e., shoe mobiles, Hearing Program, Safety Recognition, Employee Engagement activities, etc.)
Provides a strong HSE floor presence at the location.
Schedules and conducts compliance assessment, corrects deficiencies.
Supports all HSE programs (i.e., Air Permitting, Waste Management, Environmental Reporting, Stormwater requirements, Forklift Operations, Hoist & Crane Operations, Lifting Equipment, Job Safety Analysis, Blood borne Pathogen Exposure Control, Respiratory Protection, PPE Program, Hazard Communication.
Maintains HSE compliance self-assessments at the facility.
Facilitates/participates in site HSE sub teams
Background:
High School Degree or GED
3 years HS&E experience
Required Skills:
Strong knowledge with Microsoft programs (excel, word, PowerPoint)
Familiarity with HSE data management system (i.e., Gensuite, Intelex, VelocityEHS, Enablon, ProcessMap, EHS Insight, Riskconnect)
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, Word & PowerPoint
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation
Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers
SCHEDULE DEMANDS:
- General schedule is an 40 hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8+hours.
Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
