Pfizer High Content Imaging Principal Scientist in Groton, Connecticut
Role Summary
At Pfizer, we're at the forefront of groundbreaking discoveries in drug development. Our Primary Pharmacology Group (PPG) is seeking an exceptional individual to join our innovative High Content Screening laboratory at the vibrant Groton campus in Connecticut. This role is instrumental in supporting our diverse small molecule portfolio spanning various therapeutic areas with high content imaging and high throughput flow cytometry.
Key Responsibilities:
As a vital member of PPG within the Discovery Sciences department, you will:
Design Disease-Relevant Assays: Utilize your expertise to craft high content imaging assays that contribute to target discovery, small molecule identification/optimization and molecular mechanism of action studies.
Impact portfolio progression: Integrate your biology knowledge and imaging expertise to help teams address their biological questions.
Focus on Cell-Based Screening: Specialize in cell-based high content screening assay development and compound profiling using state-of-the-art high-throughput automated platforms.
Validate Therapeutic Hypotheses: Leverage your skills in the characterization of physiologically relevant cellular models to validate therapeutic hypotheses and conduct mechanistic studies for a deeper understanding of molecular compounds.
Image Analysis Mastery: Employ cutting-edge image analysis methods, including machine learning and deep learning approaches, to make a significant impact across our entire portfolio.
Bonus Points for Additional Expertise: Familiarity with methods such as Cell-Painting (Image-based phenotypic profiling), High throughput flow cytometry and Drug-Seq (high-throughput RNA-Seq) will be a valuable plus.
Qualifications:
To thrive in this role, you will bring:
Ph.D. in Cell-Biology / Biochemistry or a related discipline with 5+ years of industry experience required
Scientific Excellence: Combine strong cell biology knowledge and high content imaging expertise with exceptional problem-solving skills.
Leadership Competence: Exhibit strong leadership qualities to energize and lead high-performing project teams, driving impact across multiple drug discovery programs.
Communication Skills: Demonstrate excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate and contribute to the success of drug discovery at Pfizer.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Sitting, standing, lifting, bending, and walking. Ability to work on a computer (while standing or sitting). Ability to perform mathematical calculations and interpret data.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Candidate will be asked to travel to the Pfizer Cambridge, MA site to meet Research Unit project teams and computational science colleagues on a regular basis.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $99,900.00 to $166,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 15.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
