District Sign Tech I: Performs entry-level transportation related work installing, repairing, and maintaining traffic signs, mailboxes, and delineators in a district. Work includes maintaining inventory and records of signs and materials and using specialized tools and equipment related to sign installation. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and standard practices and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.District Sign Tech II: Performs skilled transportation related work installing, repairing, and maintaining traffic signs, mailboxes, and delineators in adistrict. Work includes maintaining inventory and records, ordering of signs and materials, and using specialized tools andequipment related to sign installation. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervisionof details.Essential Duties:District Sign Technician IAssists transportation maintenance crews with maintenance-related work as required; may respond to assist with emergency situations/conditions.Issues signs to maintenance sections/transportation crews; uses tools and equipment and moves signs and related materials.Maintains expense records and inventory of materials, supplies and equipment.Mixes and places concrete for sign support foundations; moves cement bags and other items related to these duties.Performs and maintains inventory of signs.Performs preventive maintenance on sign truck.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.District Sign Technician II includes the above and:Orders supplies and materials from district shop.Orders signs from the regional sign shopConducts nighttime luminaire inspections to ensure reflectivity of signs, delineators, stripping, and retroreflective pavement markers (RPMs).Operates a boom and bucket truck and/or specialized sign truck to install roadway signs.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
