Charter Communications, Inc. in Greenwood Village, CO seeks Principal Engineer I to be responsible for restoration of video and operational issues escalated from the Network Operation Centers. Perform video issue troubleshooting and providing technical mitigations to operational problems. Perform advanced configuration and support of advanced video equipment such as SDV/VOD, interactive cable set-top box controllers, multiplexers, MPEG transport, edge QAMs. Work with Interactive Video Systems including SVOMs, VSRMs, and SDV functionality. Create and maintain technical documentation of processes and procedures used throughout normal video operations and provide training to Jr engineers. Deliver and transport MPEG video streams Interact with vendors and internal Charter engineering teams to mitigate and resolve issues quickly. Track and update progress and details in trouble ticketing system while troubleshooting and performing fix actions. Actively and consistently support all efforts to quickly mitigate issues and restore the customer's services. Develop problem resolution procedures required to meet serviceability requirements. Provide training and guidance to lower level engineers actively working other issues. Work with Addressability Systems Controllers including DAC and EC system controllers. Utilize video management and multiplexer devices including DCMs, and CAP 1000. Responsible for supporting Tier 1 and Tier 2 on all of Charter Communications' video systems. Escalate computer systems issues to engineers and work to resolve those issues. Analyze, troubleshoot, and assess root cause of issues. Take corrective action, preventative action, document, communicate and collaborate to ensure the systems and equipment remain in function. Interact with the Remedy ticketing system, and utilize technology tools including: ARRIS DAC, CISCO/Synamedia EC, Linux/Unix, Edge Devices and VOD systems. Perform programming, trouble resolution, operations and maintenance of systems, applications and equipment used in the provisioning and delivery of Interactive Services by providing Tier 3 and Tier 4 support for all video systems within Charter Communications. Lead team initiatives and mentor other team members. Work with Unix/Linux operating systems; specifically experience with RedHat, and Solaris. Lead systems and applications support complex, high-reliability systems and architectures supporting video services or back-offices. Utilize VOD systems including AMS, catchers, caches, streamers, and associated VOD back-offices. Perform conditional Access controllers such as Cisco DNCSs and Arris DACs. Utilize switched digital video systems from vendors such as Arris and Cisco Preferred Qualifications. Utilize back-office systems such as Mystro or Spectrum. Troubleshoot common and uncommon problems related to VOD. Utilize Addressability Systems Controllers including DAC and EC system controllers. Utilize Interactive Video Systems including SVOMs, VSRMs, and SDV functionality. Deliver and Transport MPEG video streams. Utilize video management and multiplexer devices including DCMs, and CAP 1000.

Requires Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Video Engineering, Networking, or a related field. 3 years of experience utilizing Addressability Systems Controllers including DAC and EC system controllers; utilizing Interactive Video Systems including SVOMs, VSRMs, and SDV functionality; delivering and transporting MPEG video streams; and, utilizing video management and multiplexer devices including DCMs, and CAP 1000. A Hybrid (in office and remote) work arrangement is available.

Salaries depend on geography, experience, and education; negotiations begin at $159,598.
