Job Description:

AMT Engineering Technician

Location: Greenwood MS

This person works in a team environment and uses engineering and project management skills to contribute to the development and manufacture of power tool accessory products.

Working with regular direction and guidance from the Engineering Team, primary duty is to utilize entry level engineering skills to contribute with various project activities including new product introduction, manufacturing information, cost reduction, capital expenditures and plc troubleshooting/installations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Regularly visit the manufacturing cells/suppliers to maintain open lines of communication and alignment.

  • Develop and maintain familiarity of the various manufacturing processes.

  • Perform and/or assist AMT/AMD engineers with technical support, investigations, studies and presentations.

  • Understand, troubleshoot, and perform software modifications to existing manufacturing equipment, PLC’s, human machine interface (HMI’s), and Data Collection systems

  • Providing automation support for process innovations, performance improvements, and waste reductions.

  • Basic Robotic experience with Fanuc, ABB, Epson or similar systems

  • Understand AC and DC motors, variable frequency drives (VFD’s), inverters, servo motors, sensing devices such as proximity sensors, photo eyes, motion detect, flow, temperature and conductivity sensors and transmitters

  • Participate in safety program.

  • Make process recommendations.

  • Design new experiments and test systems.

  • Perform or assist with testing.

  • Draw concise logical, written conclusions from experiments based on data analysis.

  • Expand technical knowledge through training provided by METCO

Physical Demands

  • Standing for long periods of time

  • Repetitive motion

  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds

  • Frequent bending, stooping, pushing and pulling of parts and containers

  • Able to work in various temperature conditions

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Understand and follow verbal and written instructions as well as drawings and blueprints

  • Intermediate Math Skills required

  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office)

  • Basic Knowledge of 2D CADD

  • Basic Knowledge of robotics

  • Blueprint Schematics: Reading and Drawing

  • Electricity knowledge: 110,208,230,480VAC and 12,24VDC

  • Hydraulics and Pneumatics a plus

  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma, associate degree in Engineering preferred plus up to two year’s equivalent work experience in Manufacturing Automation.

  • The demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
