Job Overview

The Payroll Operations Data Analyst role requires a thorough understanding of the end-to-end payroll process, with a commitment to accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. This role supports the Payroll Operations Team with a primary focus on Garnishment processing, State and Local Tax Set up and Closure, and various steps of the overall G/L Accounts Reconciliation. Other responsibilities include monitoring incoming/outgoing payments, payroll audits, testing and other projects. The Payroll Operations Data Analyst will also produce various custom and ad-hoc reports that meet compliance, audit, governmental, and informational needs of the organization.

A Day In The Life

  • Garnishment Processing in partnership with the Payroll Service Providers and Legal, ensuring completeness of inquiries, timely responses and system set-up.

  • Completion of Regulatory Filings including Multiple Worksite Reports, BLS, DOL and other Occupational Surveys.

  • Produce custom and ad-hoc reports that meet organization needs.

  • Unclaimed Property/Escheatment: Monitoring and Outreach/Communications with employees/former employees re: uncashed checks. Complete follow-up processing.

  • Tax Fall-out/Exceptions: Monitor and take appropriate action to resolve. Complete payroll tax account registration; maintain list of login credentials; setup jurisdictions in systems; communications as required.

  • Tax Account Closure: close payroll tax accounts as needed

  • Tax Notices: Scan & categorize incoming tax notices received; submit to Payroll Service Providers; Track and Monitor; Support Payroll Tax Manager in addressing notices received.

  • G/L Reconciliation: Provide assistance to weekly and monthly G/L reconciliation

  • iDoc Errors: Research and advise Finance of appropriate account for proper recording

  • Banking / Wire Rejects: Monitor, Communicate and Process accordingly

  • Prepare Weekly Payroll Funding Request, as needed.

  • Incoming Checks: Code and Mail to the appropriate lock boxes

  • Payroll Tax Audit: Ensure appropriate set up of employee tax withholding

  • Payroll Testing: New integrations and Special projects, and time & attendance

  • Payroll Processing: Back-up Payroll Processing, as needed

  • Payroll Performance Metrics: Support monthly payroll performance metrics using data from various data points and systems.

  • Other Projects: Support as assigned

What will help you thrive in this role?

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Information Technology related field; or, equivalent combination of work experience and education.

  • Experience with ADP GlobalView, Ceridian Dayforce, eTime, SuccessFactors HR, preferred.

  • 3+ Years multi-state, multi-entity, high volume (7,000+ employees) payroll processing experience

  • Minimum 3+ years payroll accounting, auditing and/or related experience in a large ($3B+), multi-national corporation, with multiple legal entities, reconciling payroll G/L and Tax Data

  • Microsoft Office with advanced Excel proficiency, required.

  • Superior analytical & organization skills with a focus on synthesizing information, using sound judgement, formulating conclusions and articulating data in a way that is meaningful and valuable to stakeholders and customers.

  • Ability to research, understand, and apply intermediate federal, state, and local tax regulations relating to payroll, labor, and employment.

  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize and multitask; must be able to balance competing priorities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must understand the end-to-end payroll processing cycle, including quarter and year end requirements.

  • Integrity and trustworthiness specific to confidentiality and privacy of employee information; maintaining absolute confidentiality of all payroll records.

  • Ability to manage workplace relationships with various stakeholders; proactive in resolving issues with employees, vendors, and other departments.

  • Ability to adapt to frequent changes that can occur with vendors, systems, and policies, etc.

  • Ability and willingness to be flexible, ensuring deadlines are met.

TRAVEL:

  • Travel US may be required, typically less than 5%
