Job Title: Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Designer

Location: Greenville, SC

Job Description:

iParametrics has partnered with a leading engineering, procurement, and construction company known for its comprehensive nuclear solutions provided to the Department of Energy, the National Nuclear Security Administration, and commercial nuclear power producers. We are urgently seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Designer who is passionate about contributing to the development and refinement of control systems and instrumentation. In this pivotal role, you will engage in high-stakes projects that demand your expertise in designing systems capable of operating under rigorous safety standards and extreme conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and Drafting: Leverage advanced CAD tools to design and draft intricate instrumentation and control systems.

  • 3D Modeling and Documentation: Create detailed 3D models and maintain accurate design documentation with minimal supervision.

  • Collaboration and Strategy: Work closely with engineering teams to refine system designs and develop control strategies accurately represented in project documentation.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of an associate’s degree in a field related to the position and a minimum of 10 years progressive experience in drafting related to Engineering and Construction (nuclear preferred).

  • Background and experience must include drafting/ designer experience in engineering fields, such as electrical, mechanical, structural, communications, architectural, fire protection or civil

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, capable of navigating and understanding its fundamental functions

  • Department of Energy requires all people working on the project to be a US Citizen

    Preferred Qualifications: Field and Project Experience:

  • Practical field experience and direct involvement in EPC projects.

  • Experience with U.S. Department of Energy or other U.S. Federal Government agencies.

  • Experience in nuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance program, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industries.

    Software Proficiency:

  • Bentley MicroStation

  • Autodesk AutoCAD

  • Intergraph SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI)

    Skills and Competencies:

  • Instrumentation and Control Knowledge:

  • Intermediate knowledge of specifying instrumentation and control systems procurement activities.

  • Proficiency in developing control strategies and representing them on Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).

  • Ability to identify and report problems associated with control systems representation on P&ID.

  • Understanding of instrument design and installation requirements.

  • Innovative Thinking: Capability to propose creative and effective solutions.

  • Attention to Detail: Rigorous focus on the specifics of design specifications and adherence to project standards.

  • Collaborative Skills: Excellent teamwork abilities, working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Communication: Strong skills in articulating design concepts and modifications to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    Benefits/Compensation: As a W2 employee of iParametrics, team members are eligible for benefits such as medical, dental and vision, and the company matching 401K plan, subject to plan terms and applicable waiting periods. Compensation for this position is hourly ($60-65) based on experience, background, and skills.
