Job Summary As a Content & Communications Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic PR campaigns that enhance the organization's public image, increase brand awareness, and foster positive media relationships. You will manage media relations, ensuring consistent and proactive outreach to key media contacts. Your role includes writing compelling press releases, creating engaging blog posts, and coordinating impactful public events to promote the organization’s mission and initiatives.

You will also respond promptly and professionally to public inquiries, ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders. By maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with internal teams and external partners, you will contribute to a cohesive and influential public presence. Your expertise in strategic messaging and media engagement will be essential in positioning the organization as a trusted leader in its industry.

Responsibilities

· Strategic Planning

o Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies and campaigns that align with the organization's goals and objectives.

o Identify key messaging and target audiences to maximize the impact of PR efforts.

· Media Relations

o Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and other media professionals.

o Pitch story ideas, arrange interviews, and respond to media inquiries promptly and effectively.

· Content Creation

o Write and distribute press releases, newsletters and other PR materials.

o Develop and manage high-quality, SEO-optimized content creation and distribution, including blog posts, case studies, whitepapers, websites, videos and other communication platforms (content only - not production).

· Stakeholder Communication

o Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with organizational goals.

o Prepare and deliver presentations, speeches, and other communication materials for executives and other key personnel.

· Monitoring and Evaluation

o Monitor media coverage and public perception of the organization by department provided resources.

o Analyze the effectiveness of PR campaigns.

· Perform any other duties as assigned or required to support the company's overall operations and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a public relations manager or in a similar role.
  • Minimum experience 7 years.
  • Strong portfolio of successful PR campaigns and media relations work.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of digital PR strategies.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Creative and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in using PR software and media monitoring tools.
  • Strong understanding of SEO tactics and how to implement them effectively.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job unless it causes undue hardship.

This position is classified as sedentary work, which requires the ability to remain stationary for extended periods while occasionally moving within the office to complete tasks. Additionally, handling sensitive and confidential information is part of the job. Standard office equipment such as laptops and smartphones are regularly utilized, and noise levels typically range from low to moderate.

Travel Requirements: Travel up to 25% in the southeast (SC, NC, GA, AL).
