GE Vernova Combustion Coatings Technical Leader in Greenville, South Carolina

Job Description Summary

Provide technical leadership for automated thermal spray coating processes for the GE Vernova Greenville Gas Turbine Plant in the Combustion Cell. In this role, you will be the lead for Combustion Cell coating & furnace: safety, quality, delivery, and cost projects (SQDC), the development of standard procedures, and implementing advancements in technology to improve them. You will collaborate across multiple organizations to align resources and communicate progress, manage capital allocation on defined schedules, integrate Lean manufacturing principles into projects, and mentor other Manufacturing Engineers within the Cell.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide the necessary leadership and coaching to the team for technical coating challenges around quality, development, and production issues

  • Be the technical focal point for installation and qualification of coating cell upgrades. Manage coating cell setup, qualification, and integration to production

  • Facilitate the collection of project requirements, objectives, and expectation, and clearly communicate this information to leadership and project teams

  • Lead definition of project objectives, scope development, and front-end engineering support of the project development and execution

  • Analyze production cycle times and takt times to ensure development supports the forecasted demand rates

  • Lead special process changes inclusive of development and qualification requirements

  • Develop support processes for coating (Prep, Masking, Post Clean, Furnaces, Quality Controls, and Fixtures)

  • Accountable for project controls: cost estimating, planning, scheduling, project benchmarking, effective cost control & forecasting, effective progress control, contracting & procurement plans, and financial status of the project

  • Data analysis of financial and material data to drive project plans

  • Provide positive energy to motivate and coach Manufacturing Engineers on project management tools

  • Utilize Kaizen activities for continuous improvement

  • Develop a deeper understanding of robotic programing

  • Lead Repair Initiatives and share best practices with other locations or cells

  • Being on the floor and engaged with the Operators and process for tactical output

  • Lead New Technology Initiatives (NTI) and share best practices with other locations

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college OR a high school diploma / GED with at least 5 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience)

  • Minimum of 3 years experience with robotic HVOF and APS thermal spray processes (High velocity oxygen fuel / Atmospheric Plasma Spray)

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future

  • 100% onsite work at GE Greenville, SC

Desired Characteristics

  • Focus in material science / thermal spray

  • In depth knowledge of thermal spray processes (APS, HVOF, TBC)

  • Knowledge of coating support processes (Prep, Post Clean, Heat Treats, Microstructure Analysis)

  • Previous knowledge of robotics and/or automation

  • Proficient in electronic data collection

  • Effective problem identification and solution skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to drive culture change

  • Ability to coordinate and manage several projects simultaneously

  • Proven analytical and organizational ability

  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications

  • Prior experience to and knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles

Pay Transparency

The base pay range for this position is $ 103,100 - 135,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 15% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This posting is expected to close on August 24, 2024, or thereafter.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
