Job Description Summary

The Additive Manufacturing Engineer - Printers will have ownership in developing and improving our additive processes and products with the goal of industrializing them into the GE Gas Power supply chain. A key focus of this role will include ownership and responsibilities in the development, qualification, implementation, and continuous improvement of various additive printers, printer modalities and post print equipment for the Advanced Manufacturing and Repair Technology organization (AMRT). Laser Powder bed technology is one of the primary additive manufacturing processes to focus on, however additional modalities (binder jet, DED, SLA, SLS, EBAM, etc.) will also be in-scope across a range of materials.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead priorities to maintain equipment reliability, process rigor, and programming as needed.

  • Maintain and improve process documentation and enforce in assigned area to ensure consistent quality.

  • Lead and drive qualifications on additive process and products as needed.

  • Own and execute projects to drive continuous improvement/process industrialization (safety, quality, delivery, cost) on various print and post-print technologies both internally and across our supply chain.

  • Provide training and guidance to others on the team on printer calibration, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting including a focus on 5S and standard work.

  • Own resolving systemic and/or new printer issues implementing robust solutions and guide others on this resolution with a focus on driving improved overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and Total Predictive Maintenance (TPM).

  • Support the research, down select, procurement and installation/qualification of new/additional printer capability into the AMRT.

  • Own and execute Research and Development builds on new/existing printer equipment to advance the MRL levels of the technology/components.

  • Set up additive build files, post processing, part inspection and process documentation for the development, producibility and qualification of additive products and test hardware.

  • Keep a pulse on the advancement of printer technology in the market across the various modalities working to incorporate with others on the team into the strategic additive printer roadmap.

Qualifications/Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 6 years of experience in manufacturing or technical fields.

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant engineering\manufacturing\supply chain\equipment services experience.

  • Ability and willingness to travel international and domestic <5% as required.

  • US Citizen or Green Card holder permitted to work on US export-controlled technology.

Desired Characteristics

  • Prior expertise/experience with 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing including Polymer or Laser Powder Bed.

  • Prior expertise/experience in equipment field service engineering installation and/or repair.

  • Mechanical aptitude in troubleshooting/resolving mechanical/electrical systems including specification/drawing/technical document interpretation and creation

  • Problem solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinker, project management.

  • Strong technical communication skills and the ability to interact with internal/external customers.

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $ 79,400.00 - 99,200.00 - 119,000.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This is a Professional Band position eligible for a 5% performance bonus. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. This position will stay open on the career website until at least Sept 24th, 2024.
