North Carolina Agriculture & Technical State Unive Assistant/Associate or Full Professor- Theater Arts Technology in Greensboro, North Carolina

Description:

The primary responsibilities for this position include teaching undergraduate level courses, conducting research, student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, conducting scholarly activities and all other activities required for tenure.

This position will have a specialty in theater technology and will oversee the scene shop in the theater program. Core responsibilities include overseeing the technical elements of annual productions, managing part-time crew/stagecraft students, and collaboration with supportive faculty and staff. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, engaging in accreditation procedures, program assessment and service to the department, College and University as needed.

The selected candidate will be hired at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor or Full Professor rank based on the candidate’s education and experience.

This is a 9-month tenure track position.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:

The Department of Visual and Performing Arts provides students with exceptional professional programs, which combine development in artistic disciplines and career preparation in the arts. These programs are delivered through individualized and small-group instruction within a broad-based curriculum.

Each of our areas of study—Theatre, Visual Arts and Music—has a long and strong academic and performance history. From Afro-Caribbean Dance to Jazz Music, Classical Theatre and Visual Design, our talented students are led by gifted professors whose primary goal is excellence.

The department fosters creativity, exploration and discovery in students though interdisciplinary collaboration and outreach, inspiring growth, change and global awareness through the arts. Our faculty subscribe to the highest academic, artistic and ethical standards for themselves and their students.

The theater program is accredited by The National Association of Schools of Theater ( NAST ) and has produced Grammy award winners and nominees.

Requirements:

MA, MFA , and or PhD. with at least four years teaching experience, scholarly activity and service, preferably in a higher education setting.

Preferred:

At least four years of teaching at the university level.

    This position may be eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. N.C. A&T employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
