KBR is seeking a senior-level Scrum Master to support NASA’s Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS) Evolution and Development 3 (EED-3) contract.  KBR is a subcontractor on RTX’s EED-3 team to provide Earth scientists and others access to data from NASA’s Earth Science missions.  The candidate will work in a fast-paced Agile development environment performing operations, design, and development for the NASA Earthdata Cloud.  Earthdata Cloud is a core capability in NASA’s Earth Observing System Data Information System (EOSDIS), which provides end-to-end capabilities for managing NASA’s Earth science data from various sources – satellites, aircraft, field measurements, and other programs.

As a member of the EED-3 team, the Senior Scrum Master will be the scrum master / team coach for two Platform Agile Release Train (ART) teams, a cloud security team and a cloud analytics team. The Senior Scrum Master plays a leading role in fulfilling the vision, driving the implementation of the Earth Data Cloud, and ensuring Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) principles, guidelines and core values are followed by the team. The top candidate will be skilled at not only ensuring timely and quality delivery of solutions to the customer but also inspires motivated high performing teams.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Required Experience, Knowledge, and/or Skills:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in a technical major, such as engineering or computer science, and 6 years direct experience as a Scrum Master.

  • Coach the Agile team in using the SAFe methodology and Agile scrum practices

  • Support the product owners and Agile teams to achieve customer satisfaction and business value

  • Lead the Agile teams in self-organization; resolve conflicts; manage risk; and escalate when appropriate

  • Facilitate team daily stand ups, demos, sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog refinement; prepares the team for Planning Intervals (PI) and drives the team towards a committed PI plan Identify and remove impediments and coaches the Agile teams on removing impediments

  • Design and implement team performance metrics and collaborates with ART leadership to implement ART metrics; drive towards data driven decisioning

  • Help the teams to identify and drive improvements within the team and the ART

  • Previous experience leading an Agile team within the SAFe or Agile at Scale construct

  • Ability to analyze and think quickly; resolve conflict; intellectually curious

  • Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and experience with successful Agile techniques

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and mentoring skills

  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment

  • Humble, empathetic and team oriented

  • Working knowledge of Atlassian stack, specifically Jira and Confluence

    Desired Experience, Knowledge, and/or Skills

  • Good understanding of cloud engineering solutions and services

  • Experience with implementing quality engineering practices (paired programming, test-driven development, etc.)

  • Experience defining and visualizing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Experience and/or Education in lieu of these qualifications will be reviewed for applicability to meet these requirements.
