Position Title:MRO Purchasing Supervisor

Department:Accounting

Location:Greeley, CO Value Added Plant

Salary Class:Exempt

Purpose & Scope:

Our company is in search of a Purchasing Supervisor. Responsible for performing a variety of purchasing duties and providing support to the Purchasing Department. Process purchase orders and requisitions, verify packing list with purchase orders and invoices, maintain files, and place orders as needed. Create and maintain reports and documentation as required. At the direction of the Procurement Manager, research and locate vendors and request bids for various products. Monitor and maintain dry goods, supplies, and safety stock inventory levels and coordinate with other departments to ensure that operations are smooth and uninterrupted. Trains, directs, and appraises direct department personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensures that procedures for procuring materials and services are communicated to and followed by Expeditors

  • Maintains relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure good, reliable sources of supply and information;

  • Ensures thorough and complete tracking and recording of purchase and inventory records to provide accurate accounting of all purchased goods and services;

  • May investigate to conclusion all disputed purchases of goods and services for the protection of the company and with fairness to the supplier;

  • Guides and trains procurement personnel in purchasing systems and procedures;

  • Inventory ownership, ensuring proper procedures are followed in receiving, issuing, returning and overall inventory management.

  • Purchasing of all non-inventory items.

  • Responsible for placing purchase orders for new and existing production materials.

  • Identify and develop qualified suppliers which meet company standards.

  • Control the cost of purchased materials within budget and generate cost reduction action plans.

  • Maintain and support company objectives for cost reduction, inventory turns and on-time delivery.

  • Place purchase orders to meet production schedules, while maintaining good supplier relationships and maintaining cost control.

  • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies

  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness

  • Develop, maintain and improve supplier relationships

  • Locate alternative suppliers, products and services

  • Provide purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends

  • Build contingency plans for suppliers to ensure continuity of supply

  • Identify and manage any risks across the MRO category

  • Acts as business partner to Operations and provides expert Sourcing insights, recommendations and guidance.

  • Constructively challenges Plant Operations in order to identify new value and process optimization opportunities

  • Identifies and drives strategic sourcing projects together with other sourcing projects/tasks.

  • Develops systems and process roadmaps to optimize performance of MRO Sourcing and procurement activities.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years as a Purchasing Assistant are preferred; Knowledge and understanding of beef processing industry a plus.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Ability to communicate effectively before groups, customers and employees;

  • Ability to lead a team

  • Must have excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office; Heavily focus on Microsoft Excel

  • Must be self-motivated to perform simultaneous tasks independently;

  • Multi-task oriented, able to work at a fast pace, high sense of urgency

  • Must have a high level of ethics

  • Must be able to meet critical deadlines, prioritize and practice excellent time management skills;

  • Knowledge of SAP software is preferred

  • Should be good with mathematics, percentages, statistics, etc.

Working Conditions:

  • Fast paced environment

  • Exposure to various chemicals, machinery, and knives

  • Slippery floors, extreme temperatures and loud noises

  • Help inventory assistants with deliveries when necessary (pallet jack work)

  • Schedule M-F and weekends when needed

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;

  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;

  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;

  • Base salary range of $55-70K and

  • This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program
