There are two (2) vacancies for Library Technician II. Each position is listed below, however, all applicants will be considered for both positions.
Position Summary:
Hire, schedule, train, and evaluate student employees at Skinner Music Library. Provide access to and circulation of all types of library materials to all types of library borrowers. Provide assistance and referral for help as well as information about library services and equipment. Oversee common tasks performed by student employees. Serve as a lead worker and building contact during multiple evening/closing shifts each week.
Library Technician II - C01489
Job Responsibilities:
Skinner Music Library Student Supervisor = 40%- Supervises student employees working in the Skinner Music Library. Duties include hiring, training, scheduling, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, providing feedback, and approving time worked of student employees. Works closely with the department manager, fellow student supervisors, and the student employment coordinator to maintain a successful student employment program. Serves on the Student Supervisors Group.
Skinner Music Library Circulation Tasks = 20%- Complete or supervise routine daily tasks including check-in of materials, shelving returned materials, searching for paging and claims returned items, preparing overdue notices, and processing incoming and outgoing Prospector materials. Prioritize tasks and provide information for student employees as needed.
Library Help and Referral = 20%- Provide assistance and referrals to patrons looking for all types of library and university help at service points in University Libraries. Provide circulation assistance including check-out, renewals, holds and other library account information. Provide information about services and equipment available. Provide assistance for patrons in access and use of online library resources. Provide basic reference assistance and refer more complex research questions to a librarian. Troubleshoot equipment problems or refer appropriately.
Building Contact/Supervisor = 20%- Serve as contact/building supervisor during night and weekend hours. Responsibilities include opening and closing the building. A User & Delivery Services staff member is available all hours the library is open to deal with unusual situations and at times is the only permanent staff member available.
Library Technician II - C00610
Job Responsibilities:
Michener Library Main Desk Student Employee Supervision = 50%- Interview, hire, schedule, and train student employees. Assign duties and check the work of student employees. Complete timesheets, pay changes, and termination forms. Evaluate student performance and address disciplinary problems. Works closely with the department manager, fellow student supervisors, and the student employment coordinator to maintain a successful student employment program. Serves on the Student Supervisors Group.

Main Contact = 10% - Serve as contact/building supervisor during night and weekend hours. Responsibilities include opening and closing the building. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience Only:
Two (2) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position
OR
Education and Experience:
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to two (2) years
Appeal Rights:
