Weld District 6 Schools-Greeley/Evans Grounds Equipment Specialist, Technician in Greeley, Colorado

Salary: $27.21 per hour plus benefits/Range 32 Additional salary credit may be given for internal transfers and recent Greeley-Evans School District 6 rehires, up to $43.63 per hour plus benefits.

Contract Length/ Days: (2023-2024/ 260 Days; M-F 7:00 am 3:30 pm)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Required: High school diploma or GED Valid Colorado driver's license 5 years of equipment and maintenance and repair experience of small engine, heavy, and light duty grounds equipment Preferred: Post-secondary education credits for maintenance and repair of small engine, heavy, and light duty grounds equipment

JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/Objective: The employee s primary responsibility is the maintenance and repair of the equipment, machinery, and tools associated with the Grounds Department. The mechanic is a member of the Grounds Department and may be required to perform other tasks as required.

Essential Functions: Works under the general supervision of the Grounds Department Manager or designee. Performs work according to the Facilities work order system. Develops and implements preventative maintenance programs and repairs for tractors, skid loaders, backhoes, and mowers, and implements machines and tools associated with the Grounds Department. Specifies orders and maintains the stock of necessary repair and maintenance supplies. Repairs and welds equipment from Facilities departments. Fabricates metal objects, i.e, bicycle racks, snow plow mounts, safety rails, etc. Removes snow and responds to emergencies and service calls. Must be available to work nights and weekends.

Additional Qualifications: Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, light trucks, and tractors. Ability to service and make repairs to ground power equipment. Ability to perform strenuous labor in all types of weather. Ability to follow and understand oral and written instructions. Ability to follow established safety practices. Ability to diagnose. Follows instructions in repair manuals as specified. Ability to keep an up-to-date computerized inventory of shop tools, parts, and materials. Supervises mower maintenance daily. Ability to perform all functions of the position.

Work Environment/ Physical Demands: Ability to sit for long periods and handle numerous distractions. Visual, auditory, and ambulatory acuity are important. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
