Compensation Range

$102,960.00 - $130,416.00

You will be at the heart of our organization by providing legal advice to the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Weld County Sheriff and to other Weld County elected officials and department h

epresentation of the Weld County Sheriff's Office - 65% Research and analyze legal liability issues involving law enforcement operations and provide day-to-day advice to the Sheriff and staff regarding legal compliance. Assist Outside Counsel with evaluation of litigation filed against the Sheriff's Office and assist with discovery and research support. Draft contracts, policies, correspondence, and other documents requiring legal expertise, including possible legislation. Review and respond to subpoenas for records, criminal justice record requests, and open records requests. Represent the Sheriff's Office in court proceedings, including appearance for subpoena returns. Monitor legal developments, including proposed legislation and court decisions. Review policies, procedures, and training for legal compliance. General Services, Civil, and Administration Representation - 30% Other duties as assigned - 5%

Required Qualifications Required Education and Experience: Juris Doctorate 3 years practicing law.

Preferred Experience 3 years legal practice with government entity or public type agency in either civil or criminal area. Experience working with law enforcement.

Skills and Abilities Must be proficient the use of computers and programs such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Westlaw, Lexis-Nexis, and electronic filing used by the various courts. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, judicial officers and the Board of County Commissioners.

Licenses and Certifications Bar Admission State of Colorado Upon Hire Required.
