CASCADE COUNTY Data Support Specialist - Temporary in GREAT FALLS, Montana

Education/Experience/Training: - High school diploma or GED - Form-Fill Data Entry Typing Test (min 4,500 KSPH) - Medical billing experience preferred - Office support experience preferred *Certifications: - Valid Driver's License issued by the State of Montana. EMPLOYEES WHO DO NOT MEET AN EXEMPTION, WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE CERTAIN VACCINATIONS AND IMMUNIZATIONS AND/OR WEAR A MASK. *JOB SUMMARY: The Temporary Data Support Specialist at the City-County Health Department (CCHD), enters, revises and updates patient data in electronic or paper records, responds to information requests, maintains and creates files, They work with highly sensitive information and must be able to maintain strict confidentiality policies and adhere to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), CCHD/County, state and federal privacy and security laws, rules, policies, guidelines and practices. The specialist performs office support by completing word processing and data entry and requires strong organizational skills, attention to accuracy, detail, timeliness and performs other duties as required or assigned. *ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES May be required to complete duties at on-site and off-site immunization clinic sites; (may include early or late day hours). Collects and verifies insurance status; Accurately enters all client immunization information into electronic health records; Ensures information in the database is accurate by checking for duplicate records and updating demographic information; Assists immunization program staff, medical providers, and the public requesting immunization records on-site and off-site, as needed; Accurately files documents in a timely manner; Adheres to HIPAA, strict confidentiality laws, rules, policies, guidelines and practices of client and personnel records; Displays professionalism, tact, consideration and cooperation when interacting with clients and the public; Contributes to the work environment encouraging positive staff morale, motivation and commitment to achieving results and team building; Operates a variety of office machines, including copier, fax machine, cash register; Performs other duties as assigned or required. *Knowledge and understanding of: HIPAA and strict confidentiality standards. Administrative support functions; English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation; Office machines such as label makers, printers, copy and fax machines; Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet and E-Mail. *Skills in: Professional interpersonal communication and customer service; Using Microsoft Office; Written and verbal communication skills; Learning different types of data systems; Establishing effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; Operating different types of office equipment, such as scanners, recorders, printers. *Ability to: Enter data accurately and quickly; Analyze, assemble and compile accurate information from various databases; Proficiently operate a computer and achieve knowledge of additional computer applications as needed to complete required job duties; Adhere to HIPAA and maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with multiple privacy and security rules; Work collaboratively with management and co-worker;. Interact with the public or other employees in a professional, respectful and courteous manner; Practice good public relations and display sound judgment and decision-making skills within established policies and pr cedures in stressful situations; Multi-task and maintain concentration during frequent interruptions and meet challenges with resourcefulness through original thinking and creativity; Understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures and instructions; Demonstrate high attention to detail; Use proper sentence structure, punctuation, grammar and spelling; Communicate in a professional and effective manner with others, both orally and in writing information, clearly and concisely; Read, review, analyze, compile, comprehend information and materials; Remain flexible and meet established timelines and/or deadlines; Adapt to changes in the work environment, delays and or unexpected events, manage competing demands by changing approach or methods to best fit the situation; Respond appropriately to an emergency or crisis situation; Employ and enforce safety practices and procedures; Observe established lines of authority; Identify problems that adversely affect the organization and its functions and offer positive suggestions for improvements; Practice interpersonal communication and conflict resolution; Work independently and as a team member with minimal supervision; Demonstrate a strong work ethic to achieve academic and professional goals; Organize and prioritize tasks and work environment to maximize efficiency; Demonstrate punctuality and observe established work hours; Make independent decisions, accept responsibility and be self-motivated; Perform other duties as required or assigned. *The successful applicant shall serve a 6-month probationary period and will have a criminal background check conducted.
