STATUS: Part-time, Exempt

 

PAYRANGE: $20-$21/Hour

 

DEPARTMENT: Student Life

 

LOCATION: Grand Rapids - Lettinga campus

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Life

 

SUMMARY:

 

This position is responsible for the on-going support and development for student organizations, in addition to connecting students with involvement opportunities. The position will also provide support, oversight, and assessment for the Panther Resource Closet (PRC) and Pantry, in addition to educating students about food/basic needs insecurity and making connections to campus and community resources in order increase awareness and reduce stigma. Additionally, this role will develop and maintain partnerships with local non-profits in order to provide volunteer opportunities for the Davenport community. The position collaborates with the Student Life team. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University's mission, vision, and values which include diversity, equity and inclusion.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Provide oversight for Registered Student Organizations including organizational growth and development, program planning, funding, and leadership opportunities.

• Assist in connecting students with various involvement opportunities and resources.

• Create and develop volunteer opportunities for the Davenport University community, including Days of Service.

• Serve as an advisor for student-based volunteer organizations and committees.

• Collaborate with Athletics and Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) to inform them of service opportunities.

• Develop, maintain, and expand relationships with relevant community nonprofits and stakeholders.

• Provide oversight and assessment for the Panther Resource Closet and Pantry, including utilization, inventory, and donations.

• Develop materials to increase awareness and education surrounding basic needs insecurity.

• Create an outreach system for students experiencing basic needs insecurity at Davenport, including community referral to local organizations, in addition to state and federal resources.

• Collaborate with other faculty and staff members to execute opportunities, increase awareness, and assess initiatives.

• Solicit donations to sustain and grow basic needs resources for the PRC.

• Partner with large-scale Student Life events.

• Provides GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers.

• Demonstrate and promote the University Cultural Values.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in related field (completed or in-progress) preferred.

• Student development and higher education experience preferred.

• Experience working with non-profits and community agencies preferred.

• Knowledgeable about poverty and food insecurity as it impacts college students.

• Experience working with computer spreadsheets and data tracking.

• Familiarity with various marketing/promotional strategies to engage students,
