Job Description:

The Product Line Engineering Leader will be responsible for leading the engineering activities within a specific product line. This role includes strategic planning, product development, project management, team leadership, and collaboration with Engineering Excellence and Shared Services. They will also work closely with the Product Line Leader to create yearly budgetary plans, develop bids and proposals, prioritize projects for engineering execution, and maximize offshoring for cost savings opportunities while maintaining core intellectual property (IP) internally. You will also play a pivotal role in managing relationships with our suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of design and development execution, high-quality materials, and components, which are crucial for our product development lifecycle.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the engineering team in the development, design, and improvement of products within the assigned product line.

  • As a leader, collaborate with cross-functional teams for assertive progress, including product management, manufacturing, quality assurance, sales, and marketing to align product strategies and roadmaps.

  • Drive innovation and identify opportunities for new product development and enhancements to existing products.

  • Manage the product line's engineering budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet project timelines and objectives.

  • Establish and maintain engineering processes and standards to ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies. Ensure strignent root cause analysis and lessons learned through a structured approach.

  • Oversee the entire product lifecycle from concept to production, including risk management, testing, and validation, with an emphasis on obsolecense management.

  • Mentor and develop engineering talent, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to resolve complex engineering issues.

  • Engage with customers to understand their needs and incorporate feedback into product development.

  • Ensure adherence to ITAR, EAR, and CUI regulations when applicable, and maintain awareness of compliance requirements.

  • Facilitate the sharing of resources across product lines to optimize utilization and efficiency, while maintaining the integrity and focus of each product line’s objectives.

  • Work closely with Engineering Excellence and Shared Services to develop and implement common engineering processes, tools, and methodologies across product lines.

  • Lead change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of new processes and technologies within the engineering teams.

  • Partner with the Product Line Leader to create and manage yearly budgetary plans, bids, and proposals, and to prioritize projects for engineering execution.

  • Maximize offshoring for cost savings opportunities while ensuring the protection and internal management of core IP.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 12 years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Proven track record of managing product development in a high-technology environment.

  • Strong understanding of the aerospace and defense industry and related regulatory requirements, including aviation regulations such as ARP4754, DO-254, DO-160, DO-178, etc.

  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.

  • Familiarity with Model-based Systems Engineering (such as Cameo) and related Digital Engineering techniques.

  • Experience with safety-critical systems development (automotive, aerospace, medical, etc.).

  • Qualifications must be quantifiable and measurable

  • Must be a US Person which requires US Citizenship or Green Card holder

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in one or more of the following products including fundamental concepts, design, qualification, manufacturing.

  • Flight Displays

  • Attitude Heading Reference Systems (AHRS)

  • Air Data Computer (ADC)

  • Global Positioning / Navigation System (GNSS/GPS)

  • Navigation-flight planning, Flight Management System (FMS)

  • Aviation Radios (VOR, Localizer, Glideslope, DME, TACAN)

  • Satellite communication systems

  • Experience in the development of technical specifications and new product designs for general, commercial, and military aviation applications.
