BrightView Snow Plow/Salt Truck Driver - Grand Rapids - (Part-time, Seasonal, On-Call) in Grand Rapids, Michigan

At BrightView, the best teams are created and maintained here. If you are searching for your next fulfilling career, picture yourself on a best-in-class team where you can grow to be your brightest. We’re looking for a Snow Truck Driver. Can you picture yourself here?

THE STARTING RATE OF PAY FOR A SNOW LABORER THIS SEASON IS $25.00 PER HOUR BUT COULD GO UP FROM THERE BASED ON PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS YOU HAVE.

Snow Season positions are Seasonal, Part-time, ON-CALL & OVERNIGHT positions for most Branches, though there could be more hours for some Branches depending upon service contracts. You will not likely start work until the first measurable snowfall of the year that cannot be handled by the full-time crew we retain all year, so there could be a significant period of time between receiving and accepting an offer of employment before you start working.

As a company, we use E-Verify; which means, you MUST have the actual documents required to prove your right to work in the US in order to interview and receive an Offer of Employment.

The requirements for this role are the ability to reliably commute to the Branch, Authorization to Work in the US (physical documents required to prove), Valid Driver’s License, preferably a Chauffer’s License (OR BEING ABLE TO OBTAIN ONE BEFORE STARTING WORK.) and the ability to report to the Branch in an On-Call manner, when contacted and asked to do so. Please note: This is hard, physically demanding work in extreme temperatures, often OVERNIGHT and for 4-12 hours at a time. You are NOT guaranteed to only operate Heavy Machinery. You could be needed at times to help the Sidewalk Crew with either Hand tools (like shovels) or smaller machinery. This is not work for the faint of heart, so please consider all of this before applying. Please also note: Heavy Machinery experience is required for these roles.

Interviews could start as soon as Late October, though there has been no firm timeline shared by this branch at this time, this is just an estimate based on previous years recruiting notes.

Here’s what you’d do:

• Snow Truck Driver will be responsible for performing all tasks related to snow removal. Shifts are on-call and range from 6 to 12 hours and are often overnight depending on the storm event. May require longer hours for larger storms. The season starts on the first snow fall.

You’d be responsible for:

  • Snow Truck Driver will be responsible for performing all tasks related to snow removal, including operating snow, plow and box trucks, ATV plows, snow blowers, snow shovels and e-pokes (salt spreaders).

  • Work with Sidewalk-Crews as a team to efficiently and safely complete each assignment. We emphasize high-quality service.

You might be a good fit if you have:

  • 3 years of commercial experience using a plow truck or salt truck

  • 3+ years of commercial snow experience using Skid-Steer, Front End Loader, Backhoe, or equivalent vehicles with plows and snow containment boxes

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Have a smart phone (to download and use our attendance tracker App)

  • Have dependable transportation

  • You must attend and pass training and a background check

  • Able to lawfully work in the USA
