DEPARTMENT: Institute for Professional Excellence

LOCATION: Grand Rapids-Lettinga Campus

REPORTS TO: Executive Director for IPEx

Who You Are: As a Business Development Manager, you are a proactive leader with a strong business acumen. You thrive in identifying new business opportunities and driving growth initiatives. You have excellent interpersonal skills, especially those related to active listening. You love meeting new people and have a proven track record in sales and business development.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Researching and identifying new business opportunities and potential clients. • Developing and implementing strategic business development plans to achieve company goals. • Building and maintaining strong relationships with new or existing clients. • Collaborating with the digital marketing team for effective strategies to follow up on leads. • Leading negotiations and closing deals with clients. • Developing strategies to drive revenue growth and meet sales targets. • Analyzing market trends and competitor activities to identify business opportunities. • Monitoring performance metrics and preparing regular reports on business development activities. • Provides GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers. • Demonstrate and promote the University Cultural Values. • Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations. • Perform other duties as assigned

What You'll Need:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. • Proven experience in business development, sales, or a related role, preferably in the learning and development field. • Strong networking and relationship-building skills. • Excellent communication and presentation skills. • Strong, active listening skills and the ability to think on your feet. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Proficiency in Google Suite and MS Office Suite. • Proficiency in or demonstrated capability to learn CRM software (Salesforce.com).

What Would Set You Apart:

• Experience in the learning and development industry. • Knowledge of and experience in Salesforce.com. • Advanced negotiation skills with a successful track record of closing deals. • Knowledge of business development strategies and best practices. • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets. • Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and industry trends.

Who You'll Work With: You will collaborate closely with our other sales team members, our operations team, and the Executive Director for IPEx. You'll collaborate on our digital marketing initiatives and support our lead generation follow-up processes. You will also interact with clients, partners, and industry professionals to establish and expand business relationships. This role reports directly to the Executive Director of IPEx and requires strong teamwork and coordination to achieve strategic objectives.
