University of Michigan Health-West (Formally Metro Health) is looking for *Cancer Registrar *- Oncology Quality Services - Professional Medical Oncology * Days - 40 hours/week.
The Cancer Registrar for Oncology Quality Services is a registered nurse with responsibility for the overall management of the cancer registry, including casefinding, abstraction, and follow-up. The Registrar also participates in the development of the cancer committee and tumor board conferences. Bachelors degree in Nursing preferred or equivalent experience.
Requirements:
Education:
- Degree in Nursing, Health Sciences or Social Work with strong medical background and experience in a clinical setting required. Additional training in conflict resolution and interpersonal communication a plus.
Experience:
- Patient relations and/or quality improvement experience preferred. Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Applications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Maintains primary responsibility for tumor registry including casefinding, abstraction and follow-up for patients with a malignancy.
Assures completeness, accuracy and timeliness of casefinding, abstracting, and follow-up activities of the cancer registry.
Monitors and assures computerized data management system is in compliance with Commission on Cancer standards.
Assures timely reporting of cancer data to the national Cancer Database (NCDB).
Analyzes registry data to identify opportunities for improvement.
Generates reports and presents data as requested by the medical staff, cancer committee, hospital administration, and State of Michigan registry.
Coordinates cancer committee activities and all tumor conferences.
Assists in the development of the Cancer Committee and tumor conferences.
Participates with all CoC and State auditing activities.
Monitors cancer program activities and assures compliance with ACoS requirements for approved cancer program.
Coordinates information for the Annual Cancer Report.
Promotes activities to gain recognition for Metro Health as a leader in performance improvement and patient safety specifically related to Oncology services.
Provides reports regarding the quality of care and services to the Vice President of Outcomes Management, and Director of Oncology Services, and appropriate committees.
Maintains current knowledge of laws, regulations, healthcare trends and accreditation standards; provides education, and coordinates the preparation, monitoring, and developing of mechanisms to comply with standards and surveys specifically related to Oncology services
