Avionics Systems Engineering - FLRAA Position Overview

Position Summary: Systems Engineering is a multidisciplinary role that encompasses a holistic approach, mindset, and methodology aimed at delivering high-quality products that meet both business and technical customer requirements. This role involves a rigorous process of system design, creation, and optimization, which includes identifying and quantifying system requirements, conceptualizing alternative system designs, conducting design trade studies, and selecting and implementing the most effective designs. Additionally, it ensures the integration and proper execution of the design from concept through production to operation. This role significantly influences methodologies, projects, and programs within the functional area or business organization, impacting the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the team. The position demands a high level of operational judgment and moderate autonomy, guided by professional practices and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead component and product integration efforts across multiple components and products to ensure peak performance and operability.

  • Oversee the management of product and systems requirements, specifications, and their flow down.

  • Spearhead validation and verification activities, including system-level testing, to ensure the integrity of the overall product/system.

  • Define product requirements for modules, components, subcontractors, and partner teams.

  • Manage the interface between component designs and execution organizations.

  • Drive Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) and risk trade-offs within component design teams.

  • Oversee the product configuration and its configuration control system.

  • Develop specialized knowledge within the discipline and act as a quality resource and best practice advisor.

  • Maintain awareness of technical developments in the field and contribute to strategy and policy development within the area of responsibility.

  • Utilize technical expertise for data analysis to support decision-making and recommendations.

  • Serve as a resource for colleagues with less experience and may lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.

  • Communicate complex or sensitive information effectively and work towards building consensus.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited university or college.

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in Systems Engineering.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Proficiency in model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and experience with Cameo.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities.

  • Proven ability to analyze and solve problems.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading programs/projects.

  • Skilled in documentation, planning, marketing, and executing programs.
