Summary of Position:
Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) prepares artists and designers to have an impact through practice. Full-time, tenure-track faculty members teach 18 semester credit hours per academic year, and engage in three kinds of professional development: continuous improvement in teaching effectiveness, creative and/or scholarly work, and service. KCAD faculty also advise students regarding their academic plan and progress as well as their co-curricular and post-graduation opportunities. The KCAD M.Arch was established in 2014 and achieved NAAB accreditation in 2019. Situated within an art and design college, and located in the center of Grand Rapids, MI, the program emphasizes architecture's cultural significance and values interdisciplinary connections and community engagement. Its curriculum is structured around a unique sequence of immersive seminars paired with design studios. The program is seeking a tenure-track full-time faculty member with a strong, demonstrated ability as a design studio instructor, and with the expertise to teach courses in other parts of the curriculum such as design representation, environmental systems, and/or thesis research. Position will begin in Fall 2024. Courses are to be taught in person on KCAD's campus in Grand Rapids, MI.
