Actalent Field Service Engineer in Grand Ledge, Michigan

Job Title: Field Service EngineerJob Description

The field service engineer will be responsible for traveling to customer sites and completing all necessary installations and troubleshooting of automated foundry equipment. This position requires extensive automation knowledge and will require PLC programming and troubleshooting often. The engineer will be expected to travel both nationally and internationally for 60% of the year. These projects will often be up to a week long. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and PLCs. The engineer will also have to be customer-facing and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external employees. This role can be remote if you live in the following areas: PA, GA, WI, IL, MI, IA. If you do not live in Michigan, the travel will be more than 60% due to the location of the customers.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment installation, set-up, inspection, service, and maintenance of various product lines in both foundry and automotive plants.

  • Run-off of assorted foundry automated equipment as well as specialized conveyor systems for the automotive industry.

  • Maintaining positive relationships with both internal and external customers.

  • Positively represent the company’s interests at the customer plant.

Essential Skills

  • Large industrial equipment troubleshooting and installation

  • PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley/Siemens)

  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally for 60% of the year

  • Certificate or degree from a technical school or 3+ years of related experience (or a combination of both)

  • Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, field service engineering, electrical engineering, and PLC control

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Foundry experience

  • Engineering degree

  • Military experience

  • In-house manufacturing experience

  • Field service experience

Work Environment

This position will require extensive travel. 60% of the time will be on the road with the other 40% being spent on site in Grand Ledge, MI, unless working remotely, which will require up to 80% travel. When not traveling, the engineer will be doing online troubleshooting, documentation, and computer work. The company has customers all over the US and the world. This candidate does not need to be local to Grand Ledge and can be located outside of Michigan. The candidate will get exposure to highly automated manufacturing equipment and gain extensive knowledge of engineering processes. They will receive 10 paid holidays and 2 weeks of PTO. After 6 months, the engineer will gain access to Udemy to further expand their resume. The candidate will receive per diem, a company credit card, and mileage if driving their own vehicle.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
