Adecco is currently assisting an American supplier of scientific instrumentation, reagents and consumables, and software services in recruiting for EHS Specialist job in Grand Island, NY.
Schedule: 7-4 or 8-5 Monday - Friday
Pay Rate: The wage for this position is between $30 and $34. Hourly wage may depend upon experience, education, geographic location and other factors.
Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:
Ensure compliance with all applicable local, federal, and international regulations related to the transportation and storage of dangerous goods (e.g., DOT, IATA, 49 CFR, ADR, IMDG and TDG, OSHA).
Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for the transportation and storage of hazardous materials.
Develop and deliver training programs for employees handling dangerous goods.
Provide guidance and support to operations teams on the classification, packaging, labeling, and transportation of dangerous goods.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in the management of dangerous goods.
Investigate incidents involving dangerous goods and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in dangerous goods management or a related field.
Experience in a global or multi-regional role is preferred.
Certification in dangerous goods handling and transportation (e.g., IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) certification, DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation certification).
OSHA certification (e.g., OSHA 30-hour General Industry certification) is preferred.
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Certified Dangerous Goods Professional (CDGP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)) are advantageous.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Logistics, or a related field.
