Facilities Maintenance Specialist

Job Overview:

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist role is accountable for overseeing and performing diversified maintenance duties, including installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintaining production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive, and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Identify, monitor, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical elements, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical problems on facilities or production equipment.
  • Identify, monitor, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a wide variety of HVAC Systems and equipment, including chillers, boilers, and AHU's
  • Maintenance scope also includes doors, ceilings, roofing, asphalt paving, grounds, floor coverings, lighting, plumbing, sewer, carpentry, snow removal, de-icing, parts runs, leak detection, cleanup, installation, and relocation of office furniture, etc.
  • Ensure the integrity of site security apparatus, including physical perimeter, site access control, and security cameras.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
  • Coordinate with outside sources to schedule maintenance for more complex issues.
  • Support and improve an effective Machine Maintenance Program, including preventative maintenance, calibrations, asset database integrity, spare parts/material/tool inventory
  • This role makes recommendations to the Operations Manager on potential upgrades to maintain efficient operations.
  • Identify and execute projects that support meeting sustainability targets for the site.
  • Maintain a high level of honesty, integrity, and confidentiality with respect to company matters
  • Ensure all work is completed in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to carry out assignments with limited supervision
  • Ability to prioritize, delegate, and oversee the work of others
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, blueprints, instruction manuals, and spec sheets
  • Knowledge of electrical principles up to 3 phase
  • Must have an understanding of building codes, regulations, and other requirements.
  • Considerable knowledge of tools and techniques used in the maintenance and repair of large buildings
  • Must have manual dexterity to utilize tools and solve problems safely.
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License

     

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Vocational Certificate or an Associate Degree or equivalent, relevant manufacturing facilities maintenance experience
  • PLC Troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarization with preventative maintenance methodologies, programs, and applications

     

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to access and navigate all areas of the facilities and perform the above-mentioned essential duties.

Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following PPE for a period of up to 12 hours:

  • Safety Glasses
  • Steel-toed shoes
  • Lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • Stoop, twist, bend
  • Reach overhead
  • Sit and/or stand
  • Climb vertical ladders

Work includes occasional exposure to fumes, odors, dust, dirt, and/or contact with chemicals or toxins.
