Toyon is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer or Scientist with practical experience and understanding in the physics of electronic sensors and devices as well as electronics and electronic design. The candidate should have a strong understanding of dynamics and a practical understanding of estimation theory, including Kalman filter design. A working knowledge of both signal processing techniques and control systems design is required.

Requirements

The Senior Systems Engineer position requires either a minimum of five years of experience and a Masters, or Ph.D. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.

Practical knowledge in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

• Kinematics, dynamics, and/or robotic systems
• Inertial navigation systems
• Inertial sensors, including gyroscopes and accelerometers
• GNSS/GPS signal processing
• Radio-frequency (RF) systems
• Communication systems

Familiarity with antenna and antenna array signal processing techniques will be very advantageous. Applicant should have experience with MATLAB, SIMULINK, C, C++, as well as familiarity with Python and a willingness to learn new tools as needed.

The position will involve working on various projects including GPS-aided and GPS-denied navigation systems; vision-aided navigation systems; inertial measurement system design, test and demonstration; electronic design requirements generation; unmanned systems design and control; communication systems; as well as radar systems.

The annual pay range for the Senior Systems Engineer position is $120,000 to $230,000.

The posted pay range values provide the candidate with guidance on annual base compensation for the position, exclusive of overtime, bonus, and benefits-related compensation, over a range of qualifications that may fit hiring objectives. Toyon Research Corporation will consider the individual candidates education, work experience, applicable knowledge, skills and training, among other factors, when preparing an offer of employment.
