Toyon Research Corporation Senior Project Engineer for Autonomous and AI Systems (Ref #2445-P) in Goleta, California

U.S. Citizenship is Required.Ability to qualify for a US Department of Defense security clearance required.

This position is in-person.

Candidates with at least 8 years professional experience.

Candidates for the Senior Project Engineer position should have a strong background in engineering, computer science, physics, and/or mathematics combined with strong programing skills.

Toyon's Autonomous Systems Team has an opening for an experienced project engineer. The ideal candidate is someone that that excels in making direct contributions to the technical work, but also has the ability to lead and manage technical projects.

The breadth of technologies that may be applied in this position includes autonomous system control algorithms, data fusion algorithms, remote sensing system data fusion (e.g. Multi-Mode Radars, EO/IR systems, Advanced IRSandT), electronic warfare systems, software architectures, open architectures and standards (OMS, FACE, STANAG, etc), networking, modeling and simulation (AFSIM, NGTS).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead multi-function engineering teams, meeting critical program milestones, and successfully executing programs within the defined cost and schedule.
  • Represent programs as the face of engineering ensures consistent and appropriate messaging to external customers.
  • Develop program plans, estimates, schedules and execute programs in accordance with those plans.
  • Technical research and development contributions to the projects aligned with candidates experience and background.
  • Perform system analysis, trade studies, author technical white papers, and generate customer technical data packages.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows.
  • Demonstrates technical expertise in the application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice as well as project management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
  • Must have previous experience in technical, project engineering or similar roles, and experience in technical leadership with an emphasis on project execution as well as product innovation.
  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, and government representatives.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Autonomous control algorithms, data fusion algorithms, Multi-Mode Radars, EO/IR systems, Advanced IRST, Electronic Warfare systems, Multi-INT systems, Software Architectures, Open Architectures and Standards (OMS, FACE, STANAG, etc), Networking, Modeling and Simulation.

  • Estimation Theory: Tracking, Fusion, Correlation methods (e.g. Bayes Theory, Kalman Filters, particle filters)
  • Artificial Intelligence: Reinforcement Learning (RL)
  • Modeling Simulation and Analysis
  • Test and Evaluation with related systems
  • Programming skills with C++, MATLAB, Python

The annual pay range for the Senior Proj ct Engineer for Autonomous and AI Systems position is $150,000 to $250,000.

The posted pay range values provide the candidate with guidance on annual base compensation for the position, exclusive of overtime, bonus, and benefits-related compensation, over a range of qualifications that may fit hiring objectives. Toyon Research Corporation will consider the individual candidate's education, work experience, applicable knowledge, skills and training, among other factors, when preparing an offer of employment.
