Liberty Diversified International Vice President Sales - Packaging in Golden Valley, Minnesota
Description The Vice President of Sales at Liberty Packaging is responsible for leading cross-functional teams to develop and execute go-to-market strategies for regions surrounding our manufacturing plants in MN, IL, NE, TX, AZ, CA, and Mexico. This role requires close collaboration with business unit leaders, sales teams, and supporting functions to design impactful sales strategies and drive strategic account growth, creating value for both customers and the business. The position plays a critical role in the development of the sales team, as well as in the implementation of new processes, tools, technologies, and solutions that will unlock the full potential of the organization. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Packaging and is based at our headquarters in Golden Valley, Minnesota. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the development and execution of Liberty Packaging's go-to-market sales strategy, driving the assessment of market trends and the identification of products and services that deliver innovative solutions, secure market share, and enhance competitive positioning. Collaborate with business unit general managers, sales leaders, and cross-functional teams (including operations and support functions) to assess and capitalize on strategic account opportunities. Use RFPs, customer assessments, and market research to identify gaps and craft impactful account plans that differentiate Liberty Packaging from competitors and win business. Oversee commercial account relationship management for key strategic accounts, ensuring the team partners effectively with customers to understand their core initiatives, identify opportunities for growth, and develop tailored plans that align with customer goals and capture market share. Drive the professional development and performance of the sales team, identifying skills gaps and partnering with internal and external resources to implement targeted training programs, develop new tools and technologies, and foster a high-performance culture of continuous improvement. Oversee the design and administration of the Liberty Packaging sales commission plans in collaboration with HR, Finance, and leadership teams, ensuring the plans align with business and customer objectives, incentivize the right sales behaviors, and attract, motivate, and retain top sales talent. Manage talent development initiatives, including goal setting, performance management, coaching, employee development, and compensation, to ensure the sales team is prepared to meet current and future business needs while fostering employee engagement and retention. Lead by example in driving the sales organization toward achieving revenue and growth targets, while modeling a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and team accountability. Travel up to 60% of the time, engaging directly with customers, prospects, and teams to ensure alignment on strategic objectives and drive business growth. Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of Liberty Packaging and its sales operations. REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Bachelor's degree in Sales, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field. A Master's degree or equivalent is a plus. A minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in sales leadership, with a proven track record of developing and managing high-performing sales teams, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years of experience developing and executing customer-centric go-to-market sales strategies, with a focus on driving revenue growth and market share expansion. 5+ years of experience building and nurturing strategic customer relationships, demonstrating a deep understanding of customer needs and delivering tailored solutions that drive long-term partnerships and business success. Proven ability to translate customer priorities into business success through effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and a strong ab lity to commercialize solutions in a competitive market. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and resolve conflicts across all levels of the organization and with external partners. Strong decision-making and leadership abilities, with a focus on driving results and guiding teams through complex challenges. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with CRM systems and sales analytics tools is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment, managing multiple priorities while leading teams toward shared goals. PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Previous experience in paper or packaging sales leadership experience Supply Chain, Lean Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, and/or Operational Excellence training, certification, and/or practical application experience Previous experience with advanced Microsoft Excel functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, Conditional Formatting, etc.) COMPENSATION & BENEFITS The starting base salary range for this position is $230,147 - $300,000 per year plus eligibility in annual bonus program. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and/or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses or deferred compensation options.
