Colorado School Of Mines Transportation Services Manager in Golden, Colorado

Engineering a world of possibilities The Transportation Services Manager provides oversight of all campus transportation services, including the Mines Orecart shuttle program. The manager collaborates with campus leadership, Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) departments, City of Golden transportation staff, and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient transportation services and operations across campus and the greater Golden area. This position is responsible for coordinating hiring, training and supervision of Transportation services staff as well as the management of the Transportation Services fleet.

The Transportation Services Manager collaborates with the leadership of I&O to drive organizational goals and priorities, assist with effective decision-making, implement project and personnel management, and execute department goals. The Transportation Services Manager will work directly with University leadership, I&O Department Directors, and other internal and external stakeholders to implement program initiatives.

This position works primarily from campus in Golden, Colorado. Expected work hours are typical business hours, with occasional nights and weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES PROGRAMMANAGEMENT

Conduct strategic assessment of Transportation Services and operations in support of meeting or exceeding department goals. Offerinspiration, support, and guidance to team members to achieve Transportation Services department initiatives and goals. Create and foster a culture and climate conducive to high-impact teamwork. Establish effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and serve as a representative of the I&O department and the university. Directly oversee a team that drives positive results in an innovative, collaborative, effective, efficient, and high-quality manner. Ensure that individuals with the appropriate mix of knowledge, skills, behaviors, and experiences are selected, and placed, with a focus on building a diverse and inclusive team. Develop and oversee communications around shuttle transportation services, protocols, policies. Collect and analyze data to continually improveTransportation Services operations. Oversee maintenance of fleet vehicles for Transportation Services. Oversee and managelicensing requirements, contractual relationships and documents, and ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

ENSURE EFFECTIVE AND HIGH QUALITY TRANSPORTATION OPERATIONS

Develop strategies to measure and assess the quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of campus Transportation Services.

Research, identify, and implementproven approaches to managing Transportation Services operations, maximizing quality, efficiency, and resourcefulness.

Ensure that Transportation Services procedures and policies are well understood & transparent to internal and external clients, Mines senior leadership, City of Golden and other program partners.

Plan, prioritize, assign, analyze and monitor workflow, and maintainappropriate staffing levels and review progress to ensure the quality and quantity of work meets standards, deadlines for deliverables, and program goals and objectives.

Identify training and developmental needsand provide training to develop team member skills.

Provide feedback and coaching, write and review performance plans, and evaluate and sign employee performance evaluations.

Write and review position descriptions, recommend promotions or demotions, changes in pay, and sign personnel action forms.

Initiate the hiring process, provide subject matter expertise to HR during the comparative analysis process, interview applicants, and hire.

PROVIDE EFFECTIVE FIDUCIARY STEWARDSHIP OF RESOURCES

Develop annual revenue and expense budget forecasts for Transportation Services. Develop, imp ement, and maintain multi-year plans and reports indicating actual to plan variances, and projected strategies. Manage department operating budget to ensure expenditures are appropriate and strategic in recognition of the I&O budget.

RELATIONSHIP BUILDING

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the University community. Work effectively with senior leaders and other to ensure proper communication of transportation services activities.

Build and maintain regular and effective communication with community partners and other external stakeholders, including the City of Golden, and other program partners.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree; 10 years or more of work experience in the field of transportation and/or fleet services may be substituted for Bachelor's degree education requirement Experience: Five (5) years ofprogram and project management experience
