Maintenance tasks include performing all work associated with its day-to-day operations, including but not limited to sanitary sewer mains, sanitary sewer lateral lines, flow meters, storm surge/storage structures, air release/control valves, telemetry/SCADA systems, and related appurtenances. The successful candidate will be given tasks that require technical, mechanical and wastewater collections system knowledge in addition to operations of heavy equipment including a forklift, excavation equipment, dump truck, jetter truck, CCTV equipment and any other duties as assigned by management. #LI - LS1 _ Salary_ This position is a union position with Illinois American Water and the starting pay rate is $31.34 per hour. This position may be eligible for annual incentive pay and contracted increases as determined by the collective bargaining agreement, and you will have the opportunity for continued salary growth. Effective use of our system of record. * Ability to create work orders for maintenance within our system of record. Administration duties in both written and oral formats. * Perform emergency repair work, routine daily work, scheduled annual preventive maintenance work, special project needs, and other tasks as assigned by the Foreperson and by management. * Perform annual maintenance program tasks, including but not limited to using fire hydrants to fill jetter trucks, exercising of gate valves, cleaning/jetting of sewer mains, CCTV inspections, smoke testing and flow meter work associated with sewer mains, inspection/cleaning of storage structures, and equipment/vehicle maintenance. * Strong work ethic, time management, written and oral communication skills, organizational and the ability to work in a team environment. * Independent decision making and acceptance of accountability for related actions * Ability to work with minimal supervision. * Good mechanical skills. * Position requires the ability to lift 75lbs. * Computer literacy required. _ Experience/Education_ High school diploma or equivalent required 0-2 years minimum in water or wastewater industry. _ Certification_ * Valid Driver’s license required with the ability to pass a motor vehicle check. CDL preferred. * Ability to obtain and maintain Class A CDL an applicable endorsement along with DOT Medical Card within 6 months of hire or transfer. * Ability to obtain and maintain an Illinois IEPA Wastewater Collections Certificate within 2 years of hire or transfer. _ Work Hours_ The regular hours of work each day will be consecutive except that they may be interrupted by a lunch period. Regular work hours for this WW Technician are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. The WW Technician will be included in and required to perform Call Out duties as described in the current Teamsters local 525 agreement.
