ITW Construction Products is a $2B business within Illinois Tool Works (ITW) supporting well-known brands such as Paslode, GRK, Ramsetreid, Alpine and Buildex. The Construction Products (CP) Segment Sourcing Manager reports to the Segment Strategic Sourcing Director to help deliver a supply management plan that improves the overall competitiveness of Construction Products and supports cross-segment sourcing strategies for the larger ITW organization. The ideal candidate will have category management experience with Steel as a key material and/or experience with outsourced consumer package goods.

Make Great Strategic Choices

  • Lead the segment and support the divisions in the continuous improvement strategy of a high-quality and reliable supply chain to support divisions’ CBI initiatives, ORG Growth, margins improvements, and VAVE/Supplier Driven innovation opportunities.

  • Support Annual Plans and Long-Range Plans through market analysis, savings opportunities, and supplier capabilities development.

  • Effectively partner with operations leaders to identify the right manufacturing strategy (make vs. buy)

Deliver Great Results

  • Guide and mentor Category Management teams to identify opportunities and develop action plans to deliver sourcing savings.

  • Support development and execution of 2025 Annual Plan and deliver results

  • Interpret the global macro market trends and tax/duties variation to guide/advise the business leaders to anticipate and minimize business impact (Price/cost)

  • Support regional operations strategies to keep supplier relationships competitive and strong

  • Develop and implement critical corporate and segment initiatives (i.e., Coatings Strategy; Supplier Strategy; ESG etc.)

Provide Strong Leadership and Develops Talent

  • Collaborate with VPGMs, operations directors and Construction Segment Leaders to develop a robust supply chain to meet business needs

  • Help assess sourcing and procurement talent throughout the organization and identify talent gaps

*Position located in US or Europe

  • Project Management

  • Ability to manage projects across multiple businesses, with 15+ stakeholders, and spend up to $300M/annually

  • Demonstrated capability to lead negotiations preparation, assess supplier capabilities, and a general background in purchasing operations.

  • Strong persuasion skills; ability to maintain accountability among team members.

  • Commodity, Supply Base, & Market Knowledge

  • Ability to develop basic understanding of assigned commodities, including but not limited to: current market conditions, key cost drivers, global supply base, and industry terminology, as it relates to creating competitive purchasing programs for ITW companies

  • Business Acumen/Leadership & Communication Skills

  • Ability to communicate a vision (What, Why, How), based on the ITW Business Model

  • Fast learner that demonstrates strong business acumen

  • Demonstrated proficiency in leading and working with cross functional teams

  • Demonstrated proficiency in analysis and problem solving (showing expertise in data analysis and management using MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, etc.)

Educational Requirements:

  • 6+ years of purchasing experience in commodities environment required

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering or Business Administration

  • MBA or MS is preferred
