Medical/Surgical experience required (5 years Preferred) · 1 yr. Oncology nursing experience preferred · Graduate of a Registered Professional Nursing Program · Bachelors in nursing - preferred · Experience demonstrates increasing accountability and the use of advanced clinical decision-making skills; documented experience providing patient education and collaborating with other disciplines; and demonstrated leadership skills in professional nursing practice. [Skill and experience equivalent to the Professional Nurse Advancement Program Proficient Level (III)]. Skills/Abilities: · Demonstrates knowledge of the patient’s ability to understand the diagnosis and plan. Applies age and education level appropriate communication techniques to insure understanding. (Education level, coping skills, reading ability, hearing, language barriers) · Flexibility, creativity, leadership and organizational skills are essential · Ability to demonstrate a mature sensitivity to individuals and families while helping them adjust to the cancer experience. · Ability to collaborate with physicians and various other levels of staff · Excellent verbal and written communication skills · Demonstrated public speaking abilities.
