Job Summary
The Dominion Energy Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) group is an area of dynamic opportunity, with multiple Fire PRA models nearing the end of multi-year development cycles. These models will support near-term implementation of Risk Informed Technical Specifications (RICT) for a majority of the Dominion Energy fleet, as well as future opportunities for application of risk-informed categorization. In addition to RICT and risk-informed categorization implementation, the PRA group has nuclear fleet responsibility for performance and management of station risk assessment initiatives, including maintenance of internal events risk models, operational support for the online station Risk Monitor (Phoenix) software, and input to Surveillance Test Interval Extensions (STIEs). The PRA Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership, technical guidance, and oversight in all these areas.
The most qualified candidate would have a full understanding of the functions of the Nuclear Engineering and Fuel (NEF) organization and experience interacting with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), vendors, and relevant industry groups such as the Pressurized Water Reactor Owner’s Group (PWROG), the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), and the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI). The most qualified candidate would possess a detailed understanding of nuclear station systems and the operational interfaces for PRA, and be capable of making effective technical, regulatory, organizational, and business decisions for the group within the context of department-level strategies; would demonstrate an ability to constructively lead and collaborate with technical staff, to develop and implement issue resolution strategies, and to communicate effectively in both face-to-face and written form with staff, peer supervisors, and department and nuclear fleet management; would demonstrate personal interest in staff technical and professional development and would be committed to creating new leaders; would have a demonstrated capability for strategic planning for PRA applications and methods development in consideration of regulatory, operational margin, staffing, and budgetary conditions.
Job Responsibilities: Manage PRA support activities for the Dominion Energy fleet. Manage PRA codes, models, and methods maintenance and development activities. Interface with Engineering, Licensing, and Operations for support in areas of PRA responsibility. Develop and execute strategy for PRA methods development, including Risk Informed Completion Time licensing. Identify opportunities and implement strategies for cost-beneficial and margin-creating risk-related design and analysis changes. Provide technical support for interactions with PRA vendors concerning risk products, and analytical and operational support services. Establish and maintain required qualifications for technical staff and participate in ongoing training activities to maintain and enhance technical and professional qualifications.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
4-year accredited nuclear engineering degree; or other four-year accredited engineering degree with work experience in nuclear engineering . 7 years of experience with probabilistic risk codes and methods, or reactor operations, or general nuclear engineering; of which at least 1 year shall be nuclear power plant experience
Knowledge of fundamental nuclear, mechanical, and electrical theory, and knowledge of engineering design, design control, nuclear power plant systems, structures, components, and operation of nuclear power plants. Knowledge of PRA codes, models, and methods, including those used to support online risk monitoring, PRA model management, Fire PRA, and Seismic PRA. Knowledge of nuclear regulations and regulatory processes, especially those supporting risk informed programs such as 50.69 and Risk Informed Technical Specifications. Ability to identify technical, analytical, organizational, regulatory, administrative, and plant implementation scope for PRA activities. Ability to effectively operate a personal computer and standard Microsoft applications. Problem-solving skills, including demonstrated ability to define problems, collect information, evaluate data, draw valid conclusions, and develop solutions on a case-by-case and nuclear-fleet-wide basis. Ability to maintain cognizance and control of multiple projects, tasks, or teams. Professional orientation and interpersonal skills, including an ability to lead, communicate effectively in both written and oral forms, work in teams, and to work independently under own initiative.
Preferences: Direct experience with probabilistic risk assessment is preferred. Direct experience with Fire PRA, Seismic PRA, 50.69, and Risk Informed Technical Specifications is preferred. Management experience or business degree (such as Master of Business Administration) preferred

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
ANSI 3.1-2014, Section 4.4.8 (must be documented on form HR-AA-101)
Education: Baccalaureate degree in engineering or related science.
Minimum Experience for the position:
Related experience which shall include 4 yrs; Nuclear power plant experience to include 1 yr. On site experience to include .25 yr.
Note: Years of experience in job summary exceed the ANSI requirement for related experience (7+ years required for Supv Nuclear Engineering).
