Job Description:

Schnabel Engineering is eager to supplement and expand its current service offering to our clients in need of civil and environmental engineering services, particularly as they relate to site planning and design of solid waste, industrial, and power facilities. Qualified candidates will be well-rounded, organized problem solvers with excellent communication skills and an interest in solving technical challenges.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development of various civil/environmental engineering designs and deliverables such as site plans, erosion and sediment control plans, and stormwater management plans

  • Develop figures, details, and maps in support of geotechnical and environmental investigations, planning, and permitting

  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare detailed site plans needed for land-disturbance permitting, including grading, profiles, volume computations, plan production, utility layout, stormwater design, and general site design

  • Interpret civil and environmental engineering calculations in support of detailed design

  • Interpret land survey information in support of site plan design and preparation

  • Work within the civil and environmental engineering groups and across other Schnabel business units and offices to effectively balance workload among available resources

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5 to 10 years of professional experience in land development site design in Virginia, including Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D for developing site plans

  • Proficiency with Office 365, and other productivity software

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Positive attitude and safety minded individual

  • Ability to multi-task and meet client deadlines

  • Strong work ethic and a desire for continual self-improvement

  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment

  • Confidence and independence, with a shared sense of responsibility and ownership in work products

  • Effective time management and interpersonal skills

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience with civil design and environmental site design and development, including Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management (portfolio or examples of prior CAD design work is preferred)

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 60 pounds and be physically able to navigate construction sites, safely enter work areas, traverse steep slopes and uneven terrain, and work in the outside elements when required

  • Ability to perform field work and travel as needed for projects

  • Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
