Position Title: Controls Automation Technician

Position Summary:

The Controls Automation Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing a variety of automated, computerized, and robotic systems within the facility. This includes maintaining Automated Controls, Robotic Assembly devices, and Computer-Controlled Systems. The role will also provide hands-on production support in the areas of controls, automation, electrical systems, and electronics. Working closely with the Maintenance and Operations Teams, this technician will play a key role in ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime of critical systems. Under the supervision of the Lead Controls Engineer, the technician will participate in project development, design, implementation, and validation of automation improvements and modifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine and emergency diagnostics on automated systems, identifying and resolving mechanical, electrical, or software-related issues.

  • Troubleshoot, service, and repair robotic systems and computerized equipment, including robotic assembly devices and climate control systems.

  • Install, test, and calibrate instrumentation such as level, temperature, and flow controls.

  • Perform maintenance on electrical systems including PLC programs, motor VFDs, and other electronic equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and modify PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces), working with systems like Allen Bradley PLCs, Compact-Logix, Historian, and PanelView platforms.

  • Provide support to on-site operations by programming and maintaining automation across the facility.

  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and demonstrate proficiency in a variety of power profiles.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, modifications, and maintenance procedures.

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support maintenance and operational goals.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the following areas:

  • Electrical instrumentation and calibration.

  • PLC programming and troubleshooting.

  • Reading and writing electrical and PLC documentation.

  • Safe practices related to electrical and mechanical work.

  • Proficiency with common computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).

  • Hands-on experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and motion control systems.

  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuitry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in Electronics, Industrial Power, Robotics, or Automation from an accredited program.

  • Expertise in handling Tetra Pak or Stork Aseptic filling equipment.

  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical operation of food processing and packaging systems.

  • Experience with Beckhoff Automation PLCs and HMIs.

  • Familiarity with robotics systems such as Fanuc.

  • Experience with vision inspection systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD software.

  • Knowledge of FDA regulations and aseptic packaging processes.

Hours: 3rd Shift 10pm-6am

Pay Details: $33.00 to $40.00 per hour
