Overview:

Summer Interns complete a 10 week internship centered around professional development, career growth and building the necessary skills to succeed. Summer Interns participate in projects and department initiatives that accelerate career growth and play an important role in building the future of the Bank. As an Intern, you will gain exposure to other departments through guest speakers and industry leaders and a built-in network with peers as well as priority consideration for full time opportunities throughout the Bank.

Wilmington Advisors @ M&T is a subsidiary of M&T Bank that provides financial planning and advice-based solutions, most of which are distributed through the Retail Branch Network but are also offered to Business Banking and Wealth clients. Financial Advisors within the organization are responsible for wealth management for clients within the banking channel. This includes, but is not limited to, retirement planning, education planning, and insurance planning.

What else do we offer?

The M&T Bank/Wilmington Trust Summer Interns can participate in our weekly programming- these include our Executive Speaker Series, our Spotlight Series featuring guest speakers from key areas of the organization, and Career Development Workshops where they can work directly with Recruiters to brush up their resumes and interviewing skills.We also offer opportunities to collaborate with other interns through our Summer Challenges and Meet & Greets.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Shadow and assist Financial Advisors (FA) within the Wilmington Advisors @ M&T which includes helping the FA create efficiencies before and after client interactions.

  • Participate in client meetings and interactions to further general education of FA role and advising process.

  • Participate in regular meetings to share and discuss tasks and experience with other interns from across the footprint.

  • Complete duties and responsibilities of an entry-level professional nature specific to assigned area of the Bank.

  • Ensure activities adhere to established internal policies and external regulations as applicable.

  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

  • Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00 per hour. The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above encompasses all geographic locations. The pay rate specific to your location will fall within this range and is available from your recruiter.
