  • POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The Respiratory Therapy Supervisor assists the Administrative Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating Respiratory Therapy activities. Remains current regarding Respiratory Therapy best practice. The RT Supervisor will monitor and assess patient care by direct observation of staff performance and review of documentation. He/She will coach and council staff when appropriate and will take the lead in preparation of performance appraisals and goal attainment. In collaboration with the Administrative Director of Nursing, he/she will monitor orientation and competencies of all staff, assess staffing needs for 24 hour respiratory care, and conduct or attend meetings as determined by the Administrative Director of Nursing. He/She will take an active role in developing, justifying, and maintaining the department budget. The RT Supervisor will be responsible for the annual review of current policies and procedures, and the development of new policies and procedures that are reflective of best practices.

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • EDUCATION:

  • Minimum:

  • Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.

  • LICENSE:

  • Minimum:

  • Current NYS License to practice as a Respiratory Therapist

  • PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum:

  • BLS, PALS, ACLS certifications required through the RQI system during clinical orientation.

  • WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum:

  • Five years of current Respiratory Therapy experience.

  • Preferred:

  • One year experience in a supervisory role.

  • SKILLS:

  • Minimum:

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the people in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.

  • Computer literacy

  • Preferred :

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record

  • Salary Range: $39.77-$43.17
