Hobart and William Smith Colleges Associate Director of Human Resources in Geneva, New York

Reporting directly to the AVP of Human Resources, the Associate Director will support the Human Resources department by assessing campus wide developmental needs and identify suitable training solutions for faculty and staff. In addition, the position works closely with the AVP of HR in leading and developing campus programs, activities and initiatives. This position creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate, enhance and recognize performance.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Develops training and development programs and conducts annual needs assessments.

· Obtains and/or develops effective training materials utilizing a variety of campus programs and resources.

· Coaches managers and supervisors in employee development efforts.

· Plans, organizes, facilitates for employee development training events.

· Develops and maintains organizational communications such as newsletters, HR sponsored programs and initiatives to ensure employees have knowledge of training and developments resources.

· Conducts follow-up assessments of all completed trainings to evaluate and measure results.

· Modifies programs as needed.

· Works effectively as a team member with other members of management and the HR staff.

· Responds to general administrative support to the Human Resources department as needed.

· Perform the requirements as a Campus Security Authority pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act (20 U.S.C. §1092 (f) (Clery Act).

· Performs other duties as assigned.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Strong presentation skills.

· Ability to design and implement effective training and development.

· Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Other Information:

This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible, exempt position. Standard work schedule is 37.5 hrs/wk with hours Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. This position is classified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the federal Clery Act (1990). This position description is not all-inclusive, as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned. Salary range is $65,000 - $70,000 annually.

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience required.

    · Possess strong communication skills and be willing to take initiative.

    · Strong customer service orientation; positive, helpful, resourceful.

    · Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

    · Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

    · Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

    · Demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to unique social, cultural, and economic circumstances of others.

    · Highly reliable, flexible and adaptable.
