We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Instructional Coach. They provide support to the Life Skills Programs including the implementation and oversight of curriculum and assessment. They are responsible for mentoring and coaching teaching and paraprofessional staff. They are also responsible for overseeing state testing and building level assessments. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Who We Are
Marklund Day School is a well-known and respected nonpublic school serving students ages Pre K-22 who come to our school’s program through partnerships with various Chicago suburban school districts. Our Day School is a program of Marklund, a nonprofit organization that provides residential, therapeutic and education services to children and adults with profound developmental disabilities. Marklund Day School provides an environment conducive to learning through specialized curriculum, positive behavioral interventions, and individualized student support. The Marklund Life Skills Program is designed to provide specialized support to students who have learning and developmental disabilities and those identified on the Autism Spectrum.

Job Responsibilities:
Mentors and onboards new teachers.
Assists teachers with administering local and state assessments.
Collaborates with teachers when writing IEP goals and assists with the oversight of the goal tracking system
Develops a curriculum scope and sequence for each grade level monthly.
Assists with implementation, modification, differentiation, and adaption of curriculum for teachers.
Assists teachers with developing lessons and activities to meet student needs.
Provides coaching for classroom teachers, and coaches day school staff working within the classroom setting upon the request of the classroom teacher.
Supports new students throughout the intake process which includes; tours, meeting with parents and districts, conducting classroom meetings and coaching through the first week.
Collaborates with therapists to ensure the needs of the students are being met.
Assists with filling teacher vacancies, as needed.
Acts as a substitute for teachers using sick personal time (day or week); this includes assisting with planning, preparation, and data collection.
Accompanies students on field trips (via bus or walking up to 3miles).
Must become certified in Professional Crisis Management/ UKERU and will be required to perform physical restraint.
Serves as a member of the building leadership team and Data Reduction Team
Provides teacher support hours weekly before/after school based upon teacher needs

Required Experience:
Qualifications for this position:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field required.
Professional Educators License (LBS1 PreK-21) required.
Experience working with students with multiple needs and autism preferred.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job and to meet its functional and environmental requirements.
