    Campus Title Head Coach Women's Flag Football

    Position Summary

The SUNY Geneseo Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation, part of the Division of Student and Campus Life, seeks qualified candidates for the position of Head Women’s Flag Football Coach.

This part-time, 10-month position will coordinate and oversee the development of a new varsity women’s flag football program. The anticipated annual salary range is $15-18,000 (pro-rated for 2024-25). The selected candidate is responsible for administering all aspects of the program, aligned with the mission and values of SUNY Geneseo and NCAA Division III with specific duties including but not limited to:

  • effective recruitment and retention of qualified student-athletes

  • teaching and implementation of applicable flag football playing rules

  • adherence to all NCAA , Empire 8, and SUNY Geneseo policies, procedures, and bylaws

  • individual student-athlete skill development; oversight for health and safety of flag football student-athletes; and development of positive team culture

  • scheduling and oversight of practice and competition

  • budget preparation and management

  • participation in department fundraising and community service

  • supporting student-athlete academic performance

    Required Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree by time of appointment

  • Prior flag football coaching experience

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion as well as the ability to establish and maintain positive learning environments for students and collaborative relationships with colleagues

    Preferred Qualifications

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree

  • Minimum of two years relevant experience at the national club or collegiate level or equivalent

  • Ability to recruit and retain student-athletes who are committed to academic and athletic excellence

  • Experience with fundraising and/or alumni relations

Function 1: Program Director

Direct the women’s flag football program by coordinating and completing the following: practice sessions, contest preparation, contest management, and administrative duties in a manner that contributes to the competitive success of the women’s flag football program as well as the holistic development of each student-athlete.

Job Duty/ Responsibility

Function 2: Student-Athlete Recruitment, Retention, and Support

  • Recruit and retain student-athletes that can meet Geneseo’s academic admissions standards and sustain or enhance the competitiveness of the program.

  • Work with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics academic coordinator to support the academic success of student-athletes and to monitor their academic performance.

  • Support department and College initiatives to develop the whole student.

Function 3: Budget Management/Fundraising

  • Submit and manage annual budget within deadline established by the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation.

  • Follow state, Geneseo Foundation and department purchasing regulations by submitting all purchases to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation for prior approval.

  • Pursue fundraising opportunities to supplement departmental budget as necessary.
