Aston Carter Buyer II in Garner, North Carolina

Job Title: Buyer II

We are looking for a Buyer II to join our collaborative and dynamic team in Garner, NC. You will be responsible for purchasing assigned commodities such as materials, components, and supplies at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, delivery, and other factors. You will evaluate and recommend sources of materials and supplies consistent with pricing and quality goals, assess material needs, and execute timely purchases to support customer orders and inventory plans. Additionally, you will work to continually improve processes and procedures for the best results.

Main Responsibilities

  • Purchase assigned commodities for custom equipment, adapting buying orders as needed.

  • Coordinate and work closely with the engineering team, manufacturing engineering team, and logistics/transport team.

  • Onboard new suppliers, request quotes, conduct supplier quality audits, and negotiate with suppliers.

  • Maintain purchase orders, ensure safety, manage inventory, and achieve cost savings.

  • Assess the quality of suppliers and products.

Essential Skills

  • 2-3 years of experience in purchasing within the manufacturing industry.

  • Familiarity with MS Windows environment (Word, Excel).

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.

  • Experience with purchasing, buying, or planning in the manufacturing industry.

  • Fast learner with strong communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Electromechanical commodity experience is a plus.

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business or a technical field preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills and creative, outside-the-box thinking.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to a new environment.

  • Hands-on approach and good communication across multiple departments.

Work Environment

This opportunity is fully onsite M-F in Garner, NC.
