Cleveland Clinic's Center for Behavioral Health at Marymount Hospital offers a variety of behavioral health services to help adolescents, adults and older adults. People who receive care from our behavioral health team are always treated with confidentiality, respect, dignity, and sensitivity. As a Behavioral Health Inpatient Social Worker, you will be responsible for creating an environment of inclusion through empathy, teamwork, strong advocacy, and community safety planning. Your duties will include:

  • Coordinating the treatment and discharge planning needs for psychiatrically acute patients.

  • Conducting a detailed psychosocial assessment.

  • Providing crisis intervention to patients and families with complex psychosocial needs.

  • Acting as Liaison with community agencies to coordinate a safety plan.

  • Adhering to the documentation standards as outlined by the Ohio Department of Mental Health.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the development and implementation of an appropriate assessment based interdisciplinary treatment plan.

  • Completes comprehensive psychosocial assessment.

  • Participates in interdisciplinary rounds.

  • Communicates with interdisciplinary team regarding the discharge planning status of all patients assigned to them.

  • Supervises and/or trains social work graduate students and interns. Intervenes with families exhibiting complex behaviors and dynamics.

  • Communicates with and advocates for patient and family members. Intervenes in cases involving abuse and neglect.

  • Coordinates legal resources to ensure protective services and guardianship as necessary.

  • Provides consultation to medical floors, ER and outpatient areas as needed for patients with complex psychosocial needs.

  • Meets core social work competencies.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Master's Degree in social work, counseling or related field.

Certifications:

  • Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Social Worker (LSW); no record of substantiated ethics or patient abuse reports.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Physical Requirements:

  • A high degree of manual dexterity to produce materials on PC; normal or corrected vision, extensive sitting and frequent walking, occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds.
